  • order the bits straight from goldtec (rims, spokes and hubs) then find someone to build them up for you

goldtec will knock a bit off the price if you get them unassembled

  • well i was planning to build at least the front by myself

  • goldtec, don't charge for the spokes/nipples or build

  • I'd get them done there.
Its cheap, easy and they run a warranty on it.
    bam!

build yourself some cheap wheels to practice on....

  • Sapim for spokes, surely? What do you think rocker9455?

  • I haz sapim spokes.

  • Been emailing david at active life logistics. They don't have many left, at all, so if you want them i'd get in contact with him. Other than that it looks an e.mail to Mack himself in Poland to get a set.

  • I think im going to go for goldtecs, il have a look at sapim spokes, i was thinking getting the rear built at goldtec and build the front myself, would that be a good idea?

  • If you're a confident wheelbuilder, or are using the wheel as a practice project, then fine. If you want the wheelset to be the dog's bollocks, then maybe get someone else to do it this time, and find some shitty parts to build your skills on.

  • +1

You said you like bunny hops Will, If you're going to build your own front wheel for the first time I wouldn't bunny hop much personally. What peeps are trying to say is a lot of the strength of a wheel lies in the build, you could give me the components of your dreams but I'd still build a shit wheel.

  • Mack is making me some high flange hubs in black with red spindles and world champ stripes with the superlight bearing option. You can't get choice like that from others without paying a lorra dorra.

  • This thread is helping my hub choice dilemma, personally I've ruled out goldtecs because I don't want to do them up with an allen key and I think they're fugly ;)

Think I'm swinging towards Macks too now.

  • Also an allen key

  • What? No! Bollocks, you're right.

Might be deferring my new wheels anyway to shell out on something entirely different (and wait for the US dollar rate to carry on improving to get some phils, which is what I really want).

  • phil's are allen key too

  • Sapim for spokes, surely? What do you think rocker9455?

Which ones? I've got Goldtec/Open Pro CD/Sapim CX-Ray, but the CX-Rays are seriously expensive, and the other Sapims are on a par with DT and ACI (yes Rocker, ACI are fine, I was just taking the P up thread)

  • and hope track ;-)

  • phil's are allen key too

If you want nuts + bling, it has to be Royce

  • hmmm fair point, well it doesnt cost any extra getting them built at:

maybe when i pick up a cheap Pug and convert it i could have a go at a formula on an open sport or something ;)

  • and hope track ;-)
Hope make track hubs!? i got to see these, im an avid hope fan from the MTB scene!

  • they made them quite a few years ago. hard to get hold of now

  • look some kind soul has made some sort of website:
    http://www.trackhubs.co.uk/
