then what do you suggest then JOL? 32H? cause thats what im going with :)
-
• #53
If I suggest something, will you go for it?
-
• #54
there's almost little different between a 32h and a 36h frankly
Rim selection and build quality will both overshadow the difference between 32 and 36

Good idea.

ffs stop taking the piss, i only immediatly decided on not using gran compes as if they have a hub shell that bend, thats a very undesirable flaw! and at the top because i was being naive . :/
-
• #58
Do you instantly base every decision in your life after hearing an opinion from a stranger?
-
• #59
As I understand it the Gran Compes deformed due to
an unusual lace pattern. I have been running mine laced to V's for a year or so for polo and they run like new.
To be really honest unless you spend a lot, most of the hubs mentioned for a similar price will be roughly the same.
It's just about looks. -

its not an opinion, its what happened
go to tour de ville and ask keith, he'll show it to ya -
• #61
gran compe's are decent hubs, but you can always upgrade
however most people won't recognise the difference under normal use -
• #62
I use to run System EX hubs in the past with cheap rims for years, the key is to use a good wheel builder, I've seen crappy wheel stay true and reliable for years when it's build by a good wheel builder.

It would be good if peoples post counts were displayed under their avatar. That way you could easily work out whos opinion to value the most.

Goldtec! I break a lot of stuff and my goldtecs have taken endless abuse so far without even a sniff of wear/damage, for instance I jumped the same set of stairs 20 plus times yesterday in a row trying to get the perfect shot, and these hubs don't even flinch! I would recommend using a profile lockring as well, beefy as fuck!
Oh yeah and if you like bunnyhopping, forget 32/36 and jump straight to 48H wheels ;) -
• #73
hehe, i trust you james as i've heard about the amount of equipment you break! i think il just stick with 32H as i doubt i will be jumping sets of stairs on the frame i got at the moment ;)
it will be 32H goldtecs laced with ACI alpina double butted spokes to mavic open pros :)

Are you sure about the ACI spokes?

well i have heard no complaints about them so far and quite a few positives, its either them or DT swiss double butted
then a good wheel builder should be your choice ;)
