  • You could, but really is it worth risking it? Also, there's a danger of joint damage. You don't get to come back from that.

  • you can raise the stem and seat post.. the only disadvantage is that it will look a bit silly, but if you don't care then it doesn't matter

  • Well i've been looking for a track frame

I'm 5'3'' and that would fit me perfectly :p

  • you can raise the stem and seat post.. the only disadvantage is that it will look a bit silly, but if you don't care then it doesn't matter

It will also handle much worse.

  • so basically the last thing i want to do is sell the bike as i actually enjoy it, if i continue to ride it will the arm opain go away or just get worse?
Also is the 4cm really that much of a big deal could i just raise the saddle and raise the stem as high as possible?

Your urine and faeces will slowly build up until it runs out of spare body space eventually causing your head to explode in a shower, some say, more horrible for those near you than yourself.

  • dont mind looking a mong riding it with high stem and post as i am assuming seeing me riding a bike too small for me is already doing that...

I think i will wait and see how it feel over the next month and see if i can manage about 15-20 miles without too much pain if its still there then i will look at selling it... im sure there are plenty of dwarves who are into riding fixed gear...

How do you get the rear sprocket and lock ring tight as possible is there a special tool?

  • You need a JFGI lockring tool and a JFGI chainwhip or a JFGI rotofix..

  • you will never go fast sitting upright, why do you think racing bikes have drop bars?

  • It will also handle much worse.

interesting.. I've never ridden a stupidly outsized bike so I wouldn't know.. Where's flickwg when you need him?

  • Well i've been looking for a track frame

I'm 5'3'' and that would fit me perfectly :p

I paid £375 for the bike last week so if i sold it this soon i would ideally want the same...

Also i thought i got a good deal so i would need to find a decent replacement...

  • sprocket = chain-whip
lock ring = lock ring tool

  • Or the quick version is to pedal mash for about a mile and stop with the brake. Then take a screwdriver and a mallet to the lockring.

  • or rotafix if you don't want to pay for tools but still want to get the cog on properly: http://204.73.203.34/fisso/eng/schpignone.htm

  • its a bit like black magic, this 'does this frame fit ?' everybody seems to have their fave potion.
as mr smith says its top tube first, seat tube second, nut clearance if key for seat tube, but top tube + stem controls riding position. inside leg is more important than total height !

  • dont mind looking a mong riding it with high stem and post as i am assuming seeing me riding a bike too small for me is already doing that...
    ?

The head tube and seat tube are angled differently to compensate the smaller size, so when you increase the stem and saddle height, it'll handle differently to a bike that fit you and at the same height as your stem and saddle.

  • or rotafix if you don't want to pay for tools but don't mind ripping the paint to shit. http://204.73.203.34/fisso/eng/schpignone.htm

Buy, borrow, but do it right.

    Rotafix for beaters and emergencies.

  • true, I'd go for tools every time.. Was offering rotafix as a more effective alternative to the seldom killer's 'pedal mash' method..

  • im assuming i can buy the tools at most bike shops or will the normal ones evans etc not stock?

or if any of you gents are near warwick avenue? borrow?

  • Duffy might be, she has a fixie
    (HOLDS HEAD IN SHAME)

  • already asked her, shes got an attitude problem...

  • Yeah I found that, I mean I thought I was funny trying to sing in front of her, but she just ended up beggin me for mercy.

  • why wouldn't you release her?

  • I paid £375 for the bike last week so if i sold it this soon i would ideally want the same...

Also i thought i got a good deal so i would need to find a decent replacement...

Well really i'm just after a frame not the whole bike. If you ever do decide to get a frame that fits you, i may be interested in your frame.

  • if you want you can make an offer for the frame? £175 reasonable?

its an old terry dolan track frame

    ![](http://i.ebayimg.com/23/!BSRsS3!BGk~$(KGrHgoH-CEEjlLly3cCBKCZMcm1jQ~~_1.JPG)

Thats the picture from ebay when i bought it (not my house or turbo etc... )

What do you think? also would i be able to get another frame for 175 which is equally as light?

  • What do you think? also would i be able to get another frame for 175 which is equally as light?

You'd be going for a much larger frame, so on the one hand no, but that frame is very heavily aero profiled, so a conventional frame might well be lighter.

For £175 you have some options.
