  • Fucking hell! unless you measure the bike wrongly, that's way too small for you!

  • Not really.

    a) you haven't listed how large the stem is
    b) I'm not a bike fitting specialist.

Although the scoble may be right that your bike is smidge on the small side. Unless you ride in a circus.

  • Fucking hell! unless you measure the bike wrongly, that's way too small for you!

bollocks i thought it might be when i am pedalling my knee comes up at about the same height as the top of the frame..

doesnt feel uncomfortable on the back just the arms.. and i think the stem is 100mm

  • for your height, a 54-55cm frame would fit you better.

  • OK,

Next time you go into a bike ship, try and steer clear of the section marked For Circus Midgets Only.

  • thats bad news!!! i only bought the bike last week and i actually really like it!!!

my bro who is 6'3-4 had a 54cm bike thats why i assumed that the height i was using was correct??? Also i was in Harry hall cycles in manchester at the weekend getting the bike loooked over properly and he didnt mention it was too small either!!!

    What are my options?

  • Where did you get it from and what advice did you get at the time?

  • That's where you went wrong, Harry Hill knows feck all about bikes..... :P

  • Whose moron would let him check your bike out to see if it working perfectly well??

  • u can make any frame fit... just look at flickwig.

  • Please tell me you're riding with a front brake at the moment.

    Yours,

    A concerned thirty something

If you feel that you're about to be thrown off the saddle - are you not strapped into your pedals?

do you use clips or a front brake?

  • u can make any frame fit... just look at flickwig.

yeah but we all know Flickwig's saddle go right inside his arse to heighten his riding experience.

  • 5'10 - 56cm

Your bro's sizing is up shit creek too. Suggest you take it back for a swap or sell it and get fitted properly somewhere.

  • lol !

  • my fitted bike frame size is around 60cm CC ST,
but i much prefer the smaller 58 CC ST.

you can fling a smaller bike around easier... but, to be fair, a 50cm frame for a 5'8" seems excessively small, BMX stylee'

  • u can make any frame fit... just look at flickwig.

you can also tell that he's going to have back problems in later life. if anyone needs to spend a bit of cash on a custom frame it's him, it would be worth every penny.

yep, its your back that compensates isn't it. Lo-pro anyone ?

  • Just wanted to reiterate pictorially.

  • so basically the last thing i want to do is sell the bike as i actually enjoy it, if i continue to ride it will the arm opain go away or just get worse?

Also is the 4cm really that much of a big deal could i just raise the saddle and raise the stem as high as possible?

  • I don't know - would a pair of shoes 4cm too small for your feet be that much of a big deal?

  • it get worse, 4cm is a massive difference in bike term.

    talboy, I advised you to consult Sheldon Brown about it;

    http://www.sheldonbrown.com/frame-sizing.html

  • If it's through strain rather than stress the pain will get worse, also, you will continue to be slow.

You could refit the bike to fit you, but the handling and comfort of the bike will never be as good as it could be. If you really like this bike, imagine how much you would like a properly sized bike. Yes 4cm on the frame size does make that much difference.

    '

but seat tube isn't the critical factor for good bike fit. as long as you have enough standover effective top tube plus stem length is more important..

    a thousand time one plus.

  • Phew its actually a 52cm frame so its for a taller breed of midget...

any leeway in having to change bikes anyone? could i at least use it for 6 months - year without causing muscle damage?
