• Sounds awesome, gutted I couldn't make, funnily enough I spent the day shopping, including a trip to sainsburys, wish the forum had saved me, but hopefully next year!

Reminds me of my forum introduction this does, feel the tears welling up.

  • Gutted I couldn't make it. As Mr Blackfoot said - roll on Brighton!

  • Best ride of the year so far. Good roads, good pace and good people.

  • All what's been said!
Good riding, good folks, good chips, good beers!

Thanks for getting it together Mr Foot.

  • Thank you everyone for a lovely ride. Always good to meet people off the forum. The music at the vintage fair was fantastic (particularly the instrumental version of "My Heart Will Go On").

    Until the next one.

  • v grateful to Andy for organising, Skully and Vicky for the excellent navigation, and Damo and others for ckecking the stagglers were still on course! thanks all for an awesome ride, a memorable few pints, and some well-earned tinnies on the train.... bring on more long rides!

  • sounds like it was lots of fun my dears. can't belieeeve i missed a vintage tractor fair to work on a stupid masters degree...

+1 my heart will go on was genius!!

cheers everyone for an ace day - nice ride, great company and brilliant fish and chips.

top marks to the staff at the train station for being so accommodating.

  • "Watch me drive my mama's hybrid Focus!" Awesome start to a day that just kept getting better and better.

+1 to everything said above. Weather was great and that light refreshing shower was certainly welcoming. Felt really encouraging being able to do the ride and at the end of it feel as though I had enough energy left in me to keep going for a while longer. Hmmmm...Dunwich next year could be a possibility...

Fish and chips at the end was a touch! As were the beers in the pub and the complication-free train ride back to the LDN.

    Thanks to everyone. Thoroughly awesome!

  • Awww shucks...illness sucks... this sounded like a good one.

    Nice pics Damien!

  • Totally mint way to spend a Saturday. I nearly didn't find the polo courts, was searching along Brick Lane itself for a bit, worried all the while that the posse had already left. Cheers to Corny for being (fashionably) late, meant i was there in plenty of time ;-).

My knee even sorted itself out with a few tweaks in my riding style enroute.

That Fish N chips at the end was epic. One of the best i've had in long while.

Thanks to Corny & Skully et al for the organisational stuff. Everything went pretty smoothly and remains one to remember.

    Bring on Brighton!!!!

  • what an f'ing blast. good pace. no problems. vintage tractors. inhaling fish and chips.

    b r i g h t t i m e s.

  • I just made a silly little video, I'll post it up shortly.

  • Southend on Sea 3 LFGSS ride 11 July 2008 on Vimeo

Stupid little video. I am bored at work.

  • Cool. The rude fisherman is classic.

  • Stupid little video. I am bored at work.

My life flashed before my very eyes at 3mins 15secs. Ha! Nice vid dude.

  • Ahem yeah sorry about that wools. I can't believe I cackled like a witch at the time.

  • Doing the British heart foundation version of this ride on Sunday with a few new cyclists.
Are there any notable hills on the way?

I'm thinking Ditchling-esque, but also anything mildly challenging would be good to know about.

    Cheers!

  • No, flat as a pancake.

  • Pancake you say.

Hmmm, could I therefore do it on the fixed with 49/15 gearing?
