**If anyone is still up for riding after this seaside jaunt, please try and make it for Emma's memorial ride, which starts at 6pm tomorrow. Only around 38 riders have signed up so far. This isn't good considering the circumstances.
http://www.londonfgss.com/thread24568.htmlPosting on CrazyJames's behalf as he's out tonight doing the route.**

Sadly, I am out. My geared bike is about to give out, and so will spend the weekend fixing it or the single speed. Will try to get out to the memorial ride, though.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looks like I am fucking out too. Bollocks bollocks bollocks.
My front deralieur has been playing up recently and I got the cable switched and it all adjusted at Brixton cycles Thursday. It was fine for a few miles but on the way home today started playing up again. I have never fiddled with them before so I downloaded the park tool guide and watched a vid on youtube and then had a go - and I seem to have made it much WORSE!!! Much cursing and throwing of tools...
I am gonna take it to the drop-in "clinic" at Brixton Cycles tomorrow at 9am and get it sorted (hopefully). But this means I will miss the start of this ride.
Once I get it sorted I am going to do the ride on my own anyway stay in Sarfend then ride back Sunday. Who knows, I might even bump into you somewhere along the way....
Gutted. Tempted to do the ride on my fixed wheel bike, but I need to get this sorted once and for all as I am doing London to Paris in less than 2 weeks.
Bollocks.

out unfortunately. might be up for riding to the courts and a bagel with the souths, if there is still a plan. at least it'll get me up and to the library early, innit.
-
• #186
I'm still in!
Bike checked and ready to go, on the fixed so no booze carrying capacity on this ride. It's strange but i only really drink when i go for long rides. Not this time tho, nearly twice my furthest distance on fixed so i'll be suffering enough as it is...
See y'all bright and early -
• #187
right. SOUTH posse.
i will meet anyone heading to the polo courts by the south side of tower bridge, right by the last bit of green space to your left. there's a tall gray and orange building that used to be "Coffee @Tower Bridge" (now another coffee place) with a little turn in. i'll be there at 8:15. that should give us enough time to head up brick lane, grab a bagel and go to the polo courts. i'll be on a black colnago.

Yeah baby.
No p*nctures, no drama, no sticks, no seeds just the real sticky-icky. GPS and local knowledge combining into an unstoppable riding force.
Even if the beloved ride leader kept us all waiting by being 15mins late to his own ride ;)

Shit! I'm gutted I missed this ride, other things came up and I forgot to take my name off the list.
From the 1 post up now sounds like it was a good one.

• #194
Cheers guys for a really fun day out! Look forward to the next one, although Brighton is still in the scales for me...
See you all soon and cheers again!

adoubletap pretty much hit the head on the nail. It was a really nice ride! Good communication, good navigation (we'll pretend Tysea Hill didn't happen) and FUN. Good that we did the loop bit that looked like a waste of time on the map, the road around the lake was fun and fast, with a tiny sprinkle to cool us down. Great atmosphere and banter.
JayGeesus you led us to an amazing stop! I reckon you knew all about the vintage tractor fair ... and pretended it was an accident.
You were missed Jimbilly. The other people that never made it: it didn't rain! Except when we were eating fish and chips. Oh and in London. Weirdly the same thing happened last year, it rained in London and we stayed dry!
I kept thinking about people who there last time, at certain points we passed.
I'm high on life right now. And not that knackered! Though I can't stop sweating. Must be the Haddock and chips.
Thanks to all that came and made it what it was. Great improvement on the last stretch, Vicky, local knowledge wins! Especially good to see you on the road Hester. Internetz High Fives all round.

• #200
just stepped out of the bath.
again apologies for rolling up fifteen mins late at the start.
But this ride was all kinds of awesomeness.
good weather, great people and a decent pace, especially towards the end.
No mechanicals, no punctures, no accidents.Fish and chips at the end was well deserved.
Also beers at the sun rooms were most welcome and a lovely funny journey back with the dirty stop outs...Had much fun, thank you all for making it such a good ride.
Roll on Brighton next saturday..
@matty
you could at least have shown us the decency to make up a pony excuse...
i don't know shakes head
