Sure; swap you for a Spok?

So will the silver numbers from this year be coming down in price any?
Apparently the reason there are 2010 models in stock in July is that some big manufacturers/distributors underestimated demand for '09 bikes in the UK and they are having to pull remaining unsold stock from Europe and bring forward delivery of these bikes to keep anything in the shops because of the lead time to manufacture.
If you can get a geared bike with '09 spec in a sale c. 10% off you would probably have to have to pay 20-30% more for the same spec '10 bike.

It's not ten percent difference.
Right now the Langster is 440, soon it will be 450. Our guess is that the prices have gone up 2010, but will go down for 2011. Pretty much all the distibuters are out of anything that people actually want to buy, so the 2010's are coming out early. -

I quite like that Langster, better that than yet another De Rosa with Campag components that just looks like every other De Rosa with Campag components even though the owner thinks it doesn't.

^True that. I stick with Colnagos for that very reason.

I quite like the all-black look on this. Still to persuade my boss to sign up for Ride-To-Work before I make a decision though :)
I bought mine 3 weeks ago. Changed the bar for bullhorn, tyres to all condition and all the stickers all come off without fuss. I know Langsters are slated here for their corporate-ness, unattractive up-slope and unforgivable aluminium frame. I wanted a light-weight bike to commute 10 miles each way in London.

I have to say that the new Langster Steel track frame looks good - what happened?
-
• #285
well i highly doubt that would be out in Evans.
-
• #286
I might look at the new Evans that opened in Camden

The deal the with specialized is that haven't brought out all the 2010 bikes yet, so some are still to come.
The problem with the steel one is that it comes without a brake and isn't legal in GB, so it's not legal for them to sell them.
I've been told they are trying to find a solution, but no dice yet. -

specialized concept store have a langster 2009 in 56 for 400.
i have seen the dealer book for 2010. langster steel has two brakes and is £499.99.
new globe roll models are also launching, with one piece bar + stem. -
• #289
by the way, for the price to remain the same for 2010 is good news (not forgetting the langster 2009 was £449.99 before VAT change now £440.42)
VAT is changing back to 17.5% soon. specialized have said that prices will not go up after this point, im sure lots of advertising will show this also nearer the time.

Yeah, 2009 is now last years model, having it discounted (especially in a concept store) isn't that unusual.
As far as brakes, I couldn't tell one way or the other from the dealers book, I'm going off what Hattie told me last month (the lady who does sales for specialized).

• #291
what shop do you work in?

Hattie rocks my world!
I just thought I'd share that.

you know she has left now?
new girl called victoria.

She can still rock from Chamonix.

.you know that for sure?
it wouldn't surprise me if it goes to 19% sometime in the next few years 'to bring us into line with europe' instead of 'we need as much revenue as we can get cos we fucked up'
-
• #296
Nhatt - evans sell the fuji track though, and that comes with NoBrakes I think

I heard david cameron was proposing 19% for poor people and no VAT for his fat faced bastard friends.

Yeah, how can it be against the law to sell a bike without brakes if it's a track bike?*
*or at least supposed to be, even if it'll end up being used mostly on the street

i believe the steel Langster is for the American market only and even then in limited numbers. Thats according to the guy in American Cyclery, San Francisco. Seen the red/chrome - awesome.

It's not against the law!
At point of sale you have to tell the customer that the bike is not road legal.
Are you going to Taiwan to pick up some of the steel langsters? If so, can you grab me a couple?
