  • The RAW has a fixed division.... Not that I would recommend that to anyone I know. And I know some nutters.

  • Oh yeah, the BB bracket story goes like this:

The dude that built the main race bikes is a total muppet. He put the bottom bracket in the frame dry with out the right spacer, so the ceramic BBs were completely destroyed after a few training rides. When we took the old BB out, it took three large men standing on the BB tool, the bike, and one holding the first guy down to get the damn thing out.
This discovered on the ladies bike that he had scored the ends of the cable housing for her front mech, so that there was no way it could hold an adjustment.

    Messeuw is a bell end.

  • Any photos Nhatt?

  • can't post the photos properly, my computer has not chosen life this time around.

  • I'm going to order this, so if anyone else wants a copy let me know and we might save on postage..

  • So, I've been offered a place on another team...

  • If I can do it and still pay rent I'll probably go. For all my sins.

  • !RAAMattack!

  • I've just spent the evening putting together a list of every bike shop that's worth anything between Oceanside and Annapolis.

America, we are ready for you.

  • Nat, if you see Norton Rose team in the US pse wish them well- I coached one of them. Who will you be wrenching for?

  • Be careful of the bloke Scherrit coached.. his victims clients are quite spontaneous in their insanity..

  • I will! (speaking of which, it's surprising that we've never met).

I'm working for a team called Crank Addicts.

  • Just found this thread and coincidentally it's just after I've been at the UCI downhill world cup in Fort William and been thinking how awesome it'd be to get a job as a team mechanic and get to travel about.
I think from what I've read that you used to be a mech in an LBS right Nhatt? How did you go from lbs to part of a team? Are you Cyteched (or similar)?

  • Er, well, kind of.
I did something like cytech in the states, I worked off and on in a few bike shops over the last 8 years, and I worked at BC, which is a local bike shop, but is a very good one.

I happened into doing RAAM the last few times, I'm hoping to make a transition into doing more race mechanics at some point. I can't really tell you how to get into it as I still haven't.

  • My money is on Jay Petervary.....His plans to win Iditabike, RAAM, and the tour divide for his 'no idle tour', all in the same year are nuts...If he does it it'll be an amazing achievement.
He already got the first one so he's fired up for RAAM.

edit...I meant set a new record on the great divide as the tour divide clashes with RAAM.

  • Bleeding hell, he sounds like a class A mentalist.

  • Good luck.

    a class A mentalist.

Your team is called crank addicts.

  • Bleeding hell, he sounds like a class A mentalist.

He sounds like a bit of a !Nhuttattack!, to be honest.

  • My theory is that Schick is trying to send us all so insane that we might contemplate riding this.

    2013 anyone?

  • maybe 2015

  • Anyone interested in how Jay Petervary is doing with his 'No Idle tour'...He's just over half way now in his RAAM after a 315 mile day 2 days ago and then racing away from a chasing storm for 4O miles yesterday, which he managed...Only to get caught in another storm, so he was getting a few hours kip in a motel.
The thing that makes it even more impressive for me is that he's doing his RAAM completely unsupported.
As I'm sure Nhatt will agree, the support team is a huge part of each riders chance of success, so for Jay to do it unsupported will only make it an even greater achievement when he crosses the line.

Then he will be left with his Tour divide time trial of over 27OO miles off road to complete his No idle tour.
    Amazing!!!

  • Christoph Strasser finished RAAM a few hours ago in 8 days 8 hours....that's a pretty insane time for a three thousand mile race!
