Still want to talk to Cross Kings about this...
Might be worth it seeing as we could even put on some live stuff... might get people more focussed on music...

great night and didn't even know it was going on...was simply passing thinking what a lovely collection of bikes, i must go investigate.
Superb seeing so many of us there.
Love Bar Storey, but if you want somewhere central, what about the Charterhouse (on Charterhouse St near Fabric)? My mate runs it, you can reserve the whole of upstairs for free, sound system decent (to my amateur ear)and upstairs would come with a private bar...plus open till 4 and there's bike lockupon railings next to it?

I think as Corny has said (although I missed the night), if the whole vibe is about music then a proper music venue should be found, although outdoor areas are great, unless you have like 300 people everyone is going to sit outside all night. So somewhere like plastic people would be great as people can still smoke outside but then they will go in to vibe all night long.
Another idea; although not central-The Amersham Arms in New Cross is pretty nice
cross kings-york way? and charterhouse sound good

gutted that we missed this. It was a total public transport fail. The tube / overground was not in service. Dog and I tried to get on the second bus and were refused. Who refuses a docile dog access to public transport... the same one who suggested that we walk to london bridge. Dog was clearly over heating and there was no way we would be walking that far. :(
The man I spoke to at the venue was totally cool with us (me and dog) coming so I was super excited about this. Glad to hear you had fun though. -

Pioneer mixers are the worst on the market - gravelly, shitty, awful sound!
Why set up a Funktion 1 then forget all about the basics..!?
Most Vestax mixers are fairly decent, it's the decks that are shit
Buy a Ferrari then put a Lada engine in it would you?

Upstairs at the horse and groom on curtain road has a great sound system. It is also free to hire out.
The Albert and pearl on upper street is also free to hire out.

Awww you woulda loved it Jacqui. Sorry to hear of Canophobe (?) bus driver.
Aleksi Yep york Way. Nice trashy venue, right up our street I reckon, quite large, diff areas, small terrace outside but not too welcoming so would make us go back inside more. No railings though, so maybe we'd need dispensation to use a yard or room for freelocking in...
Liking the Plastic People idea, but now we're talkng about a nightclub hours type gig, right?

Possibly - Saturday is 2am which of course is fine but I'm thinking more like Sundays - which I think is only midnight, maybe 1am

I really enjoyed the music but every time I tried to dance with Corny he ran away! I agree with Slag, if you moved the DJ then everyone would be able to hear the music better without it blasting away at the back. I think that was the main problem with the sound - trying to get it all the way out to the front blasted people out at the back. But anyway, I'd be extremely happy to go to another one, listen to soul and boogaloo (thanks, Scott for that one track I heard and got all excited about!) and drink delicious coctails at decent prices.

What about upstairs at the sun&doves?
Would have to kick the tenants and all their furniture out :p
The sound system just isn't reliable enough if it was done in the main bar and we'd have the same situation as Bar Story; DJ inside and Bright Times peeps outside.
What about upstairs at the bear? Though bike parking could be an issue...

Thanks all for a great day - agree it was a pity it wasn't a bit more music focussed. Why was the boss trying to get it turned down the whole time? Was it a licencing isuue???

thanks, Scott for that one track I heard and got all excited about!)
It was The Latin blues band- I'll be a happy man.
Nice to see Aram is just as clued up...he spotted Gene Ammons- Jungle strut.
+1^ although they will most definitely give us a mon/tue if we get it at all
yer gramophone want quite a lot considering the small capacity and most of the promoters have settled in so it might be a bit difficult to get a slot
Although 'hosting' upstairs might be an option
