That's quite alright! Hope you can make the next one. Those polo tournaments all over Europe look great.
It's worse than that. I'm trying to sort out the financial side of going to the worlds in Philly too. Polo really has taken over my life. Awesome fun though. -

Anyone know a good breakfast joint /cafe?
Lick surely tops Shakeaway - right in the North Laine too so nice to walk through/clog up the streets with bikes with....
Or if you're after something more substantial the Market Diner is a Brighton Treasure, it's a little way off the beach but a nice quiet side road and is open 24/7. It's not exactly Michelin but it fills a hole.
For something classier (but still hardly Michelin), Buddies café-restaurant on the Kings Road (the bit above the beach) is similarly legendary and opens at similarly obliging hours.
Finally, what about having a bit of a meet up with Brighton based riders? Despite spending most evenings before work at Preston Park on my Fuji a few years ago I never saw any others but judging by this forum I know they exist! Maybe they'd like to get involved?

How about them meeting us at the finish with plates of bacon butties and steaming mugs of tea? ;)

Yes it exists. No I wouldn't go near it. -

Black Coffee and cigarettes, however, are perfect for breakfast on the beach.

Definitely up for coffee - I might bring a my kelly-kettle and fire her up... But maybe I should save that for the coffee appreciation thread..

Oliver, re: backstop. No doubt i'll be near the back anyway, however, my dad has offered to act as a backstop/support car and will be able to carry spares, tools, help with repairs etc. also might be nice to have a car at the back to warn other drivers.
If you'd rather keep it low-key and not have a car behind us then no worries. but the offer stands - Oliver Schick

Thanks, Ed, I've been slow in replying to those who have offered to backstop. Many thanks for all your offers!
It's very nice of your dad to offer, so thanks to him. However, I'd rather do it without a support car, as I don't think we need one. He would of course be very welcome to join us on a bike!
I'll have more to say on backstoppery once we have a clearer idea of the size of the group. Keep the list growing, everybody! The more, the merrier.

No worries, i'll try and get him on a bike, unlikely but worth a shot.
Lookin forward to the ride -

Shame... I was counting on the car for Guiness support.
Back to the drawing board with the beer-to-weight ratio. -

Haha, the Booze Bimmer.
Proper forum use of support car.
Yeah, right. :)

Was gonna do a London to Brighton ride this summer, but this seems like way more fun. Count me in! Gonna try and get a mate to come as well.

Many thanks for all the backstopping offers! I propose having one backstop London-Gatwick and another Gatwick-Brighton. How does that sound? The food offer still stands, by the way. The London-Gatwick backstop gets food at Gatwick, and the Gatwick-Brighton person gets a breakfast at Brighton. First dibs on either win. :)
-
• #72
i'll take london-gatwick. but if i'm at the back of the crowd due to my lack of pace, i won't want rewarding for it....
-
• #73
I'll take the duties into Brighton. You can't get much decent, vaguely vegan food in gatwick anyway
-

Great, thanks, guys. Duly dibsed. Let me know if anything changes!
