  • Not ridden but on trend profile; wide rims; alloy braking surface; not too pricey or heavy

  • Yeah it's a possibility.

  • Get Zipp's on trade. Sell them a year later for the price you got them on eBay. Buy new Zipp's. Win.

  • I want trade zipps :(

  • I want trade zipps :(

FWIW, like SRAM, it's not that big a price drop compare to others manufacturer.

I get better trade with Mavic, obviously the disadvantage is that it's Mavic, old school and stubborn.

  • I think rapha employees get some special zipp deal, but only on one pair a year. Or something.

  • but only on one pair a year.

    But dad....

  • Are you on 11sp? If so, how about these?

Word has it you can add 100g to the claimed weight.

  • Howard - I'd get the 303's.

  • Retrogrouch, still on 10spd Campag.

  • I'm not sure Campag splined Fulcrums exist (?) so they're out.

[edit] They do, and still discounted ..... link [edit]

  • Aren't they owned by Campag? These are Campag compatible.

edit - they look good, know how much wider the wide rim is?

  • They are campag.

Most of the wheels are duplicated with g3 lacing in the Campag wheel range. But campag Fulcrums do exist... I've edited above.

  • Bingo, I'll grab some of those. Ta.

  • The 7s use j bend spokes and hubs without the fancy milling. I think they're functionally much the same, just less pretty, more heavy.

    Cup and cone bearings.

  • @miro_o a mate is looking to build FM296 on budget; he is leaning towards Aksiums because they come with tyres; should I convince him for those Fulcrum 7 LGs? Any distinct advantage over aksiums?

  • Aksiums are alright. The tyres are probably rebranded Rubinos? They can be bought for £20 a pair I think.

The fulcrums are a couple of mm wider.

  • the tyres that come with aksiums are super slippy in the wet.

  • So that explains amey's crashes then...

  • Dont post what you dont know™

Funnily enough I did use them for racing and the last race where I had to squeeze a liter of water from my gloves they did hold up really well; must be something to do with surface at LVV.

  • should I convince him for those Fulcrum 7 LGs?

Yes, they're actually great wheels, and less retrogrouchy than the Aksiums.

  • Haz to be Zipp 303s

  • I was kidding though Amey - not trying to claim something as fact :-)

  • I'm very happy with my Reynolds Assaults.
Good breaking, especially with Reynolds blue pads.

I got them at trade for £850ish if I remember correctly... So not as spendy as some of the options.

Do love my HED's too... but they are Stingers, not Jets, and tubular.
