Have Shimano figured out quick-links yet?

Anything special about these DT hubs that makes them worth $250 over stock? They're a smidge lighter and use weird skewers? Is that it?

Straight pull spokes?

• #3007
You'll still need to change pads? And they're aero with 23s.
You're going to buy them because you want them. :-)
Changing pads takes ~4 seconds.
But yes, you nail it on the second point.

Straight pull spokes?
That's a thing, yes, but I was looking for benefits that justify the $250.

WWF cage fights ain't got shit on that process.

EE Pad holders- no tool required, you just pull the pad out and push a new one in, takes no time at all.
You have the wheel out as you are changing it, obvs.

Does Dammit still have the eebrakes? The fast pad-swap feature is the one good thing about them.

So the answer to my question would be yes, then :-)

36 seconds*. Impressive.
Are they proprietary pads, or just proprietary pad holders?
- excluding the time it takes to run from front to back and in dammit's case turning the bike upside down to get to the rear ;)

Normal pads, just a clever holder design.

^^ I had some of those Aztecs. Had to chuck them as I couldn't remove the old swissstop pads even with attempts at drilling them out. FFS.

I have strong fingers and a stubborn mentality. But they are shitting annoying.

the flanges of those straight pull ones does look quite like swiss cheese though.

I use 3rd-party freehubs anyway so that's not much of an issue.

I've taken to using a small nylon vice-clamp to get pads to seat in my eebrakes correctly. It's not as straightforward as it's made out to be with either ashima or swissstops. Probably fine if I took a knife and made them a bit thinner, but I'd rather not be doing that
-

I've used SwissStop Yellow, Green and Black Prince, and Reynolds Cryo Blue - found that they all seated in a co-operative manner.
I've had first and second gen EE Brakes- which are you using, third?

Can't tell if serious... DT Swiss freehub bodies are like Gorgonzola.
I use 3rd-party freehubs anyway so that's not much of an issue.
Which ones?
Also, both of you; powertap bearings- where can I haz?
-
• #3024
probably an odd question but can the bearings in hubs add significant weight to a wheel? I have quite a light set of wheels (1490g for the pair, at least I think that's light) and the bearings sound like they're shot in the front (making some real odd noises.)
will I have to pay $$$$$$ to get light bearings? pls 2 excuse my noobyness
-
• #3025
No, buy good quality bearing.
