I'm pretty sure it's the pads, not sure what else it could be but open to suggestions as to some other cause.

I'm going to try and have a more regular/systematic approach to wheel TLC after rides, and hopefully these sets will keep me going until I need to switch to a trike, with a few rim replacements :)
Overrated. Just use them until they fail and bin them. These have so far proven to be 'well tough':

Grab the wheel and pull it side to side. Where does it contact?

Tyre squirm, glove squirm (if leather), cable outer squirm, pedal bushes, cleats...

I'll perform the Hippy-Test when I've finished my dinner, the reason I think it's the pads is that when braking the wheels make a very distinctive "zeeeeeeeeep" noise.

Talk about overdoing the brand holisticity. -

My rear Zipp would rub on climbs if I didn't back the brakes off but I've never had the front rub. If not the build it could be the bearings.
-
• #1484
I gave them a tug, both rims will contact the pads if you pull the rim sideways.

It's possibly my huge weight
-
• #1486
I weigh more than you. Maybe the bearings are rooted or the build ain't up to par.

Wait, they're wide ones aren't they? Make sure the bottom rubber thing on the pad holder isn't rubbing on the carbon rim surface. I had that with DA pad holders when I first put 404s on the S-Works.
-
• #1488
Yep, 27mm wide at the braking surface.
I'll drop into Sigma at some point and ask their opinion.

Shimano 2014 RS81 range is noice.

Dammit, is it not a simply fix to unwind the barrel adjuster a little bit?
-
• #1491
Spin the barrel adjuster to move them away from the rim. Simples.
If only someone had mentioned that..
-
• #1492
I like the brakes as they are, I'd prefer to leave them set up as I have them.
If anything I'd prefer to move the pads in slightly.
I ran them closer with my old Zipps, for example- with no rubbing.

Hmm, sounds like you have a problem then. As you were...

A719 > op
Would it be silly to build up an A719* rims for a carbon sportive bike over the A23?
*I was offered 2x 32h A719 for silly money.

What use do you have for 150g per rim weight saving? If you were in a hurry, you wouldn't be considering either rim.
-
• #1496
The only use I have was pretending to be Mark Cavendish on the Champs-Élysées.
Otherwise just your usual weekend/sportive ride.
-

Well CRC refunded me £20 no quibble.
Feel like an arse. Got a spoke on order out of my pocket.
I'll refund them their £20 and apologise.Great customer service.

I'd usually disagree with Tester on this one, and say lifes short, the time spent riding even shorter, get the lighter ones.
But that 150g extra weight includes a 6.5% increase in width, and eyelets. So its a fairish trade off IMHO.

looking for wide not so expensive rims similar to A23 (Archetypes are expensive and heavier) it's for a disc wheelset. TFG seems like the only shop which sell A23s
