Three people wearing them on a team would be fun / strike mild fear into your opponents.

Not sure I'd want to wear a full facer as it would suppress ones beard.
Ha!

Joni's 1st one ftw!
I might be in on some shipping if anyone buys. Looking at their gloves:

i just found this, it is expensive but looks brilliant. You can clearly wear it with or without any helmet.
It looks good, but i don't think you'd be able to comfortably fit your helmet on over the sides?

I'd strongly suggest checking out Cricket helmets or cages as an option. They are desinged for impact from a similar size and weight ball traveling at similar speed, and also offer all round head protection similar to that offered from a cycling helmet.
There's a few being used now and the one I have is here -
Eggpie has adapted a cage to fit on his bmx helmet too which seems to be a great option.

are other people bidding on this facecage: 200575393891
no point in driving the price up for others. -

Does anyone know any shops with a decent range of ice hockey helmets in London? So far all of them I've tried on have been way too big or hurt like hell.
I think I need to try on some from different manufacturers and try and find one which is a more similar shape to my head.

maybe the ice rinks. Alexandra palace..?

Good call, Streatham has a hockey shop and their website has a reasonable number of helmets on it.
I'll email/call round them to try and find one with a decent selection of manufacturers.

nice one, i just want a guard to mod, if you call them up ..

A few people were asking about the skate helmet that Eggpie and I have modded to fit a cricket guard.
It's here, from £11, http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=24921
My guard came from a helmet I bought, not sure where you can buy them separately.

John, why did you do this? Was the helmet not working out?

I found the cricket helmet a bit restrictive, for one the lip at the front (though you can get cricket helmets with less of a lip, like Andy's), but also it was solid foam, with no air vents. The skate helmet is quite a bit lighter, a lot less padding, and air vents.
It's still a bit bulkier than I would like, but I guess that will apply to any helmet.
As I was able to drill the bolts in where I wanted, I also opened up the space between the guard and the front of the helmet a bit. It does reduce the protection to the eyes, in theory a ball or mallet could get through now, but it improves the vision a lot, and it still protects the nose, ears and mouth.

I got a nice mallet to temple yesterday.
Time to begin taking it a little more serious.
Headache all night and hard to chew! ha!Until it happens it's easy to overlook such injuries.
had it been my face...New helmet with eye guard in the post.
Lower face I'm still unsure about but we'll see... -

Needs a good test as I don't know how good that eye guard will be or if it'll steam up too much.
Slides up and out of the way though. -

i was just looking at paintball masks. Holy shit these people are dweebs.
I think eye protection is the number 1 priority.
Not sure I'd want to wear a full facer as it would suppress ones beard.
A light cut out cage on a helmet seems the best option for full face.
I particularly like the ti cricket guards.
The Albion mark II cricket helmet is nice.
Having something pressed on your face at any part won't be too great IMO.
Take a look at the canoe/kayak polo helmets and guards too...
