  • They look pretty cool.
Would they be strong enough for head to concrete though?

  • I reckon so.
    You ever seen them play?
Its crazy, if it can protect you against one of these then i think you'll be ok.

  • Sorry to intrude on polo turf- but the Hurling helmets would be excellent for protection.

I will be playing polo soon, I hope- my taster in Ireland got me excited- just need to find a bike, and people willing to put up with someone as shit as I am.

Also I'd be using one for polo

  • Henry, what size frame would you want? I know you're a posh bastard and like to have nice things, but I picked up an old frame from Retro di Corsa which I think would make a great first/starter polo bike. 53cm.

    1. cunt.
    2. I like nice things.
    3. will be using an old MTB frame- its all good. thanks Mark:
I have a 650c Disc brake front wheel so figured I might as well use that and make it fixed and stick it on the back.
      4.It will be pink (probably)

The original plan was to use this:

but its just too low, and unstable-

  • .... and has a eight meter wheel base by the looks of things.

  • Anyone concidered a Hurling helmet?
I have played (albit a very tame game) and i would think that the same considerations would apply for polo ie: visibility etc.

I've got this, great helmet, tempted to start poloing now...

  • what size? any chance of trying it on some time?

  • I've got the medium, I can bring it to drinks at some point if you want to try it (except Easts, obviously =P)

  • Finally if any of you like mick's helmet (lol) i've already got to put an order in for my old club for a small amount of hurling equipment so could add yours to the list.

  • Medium's going to be too small for me. Maybe someone else will give it a shot and report back.

i could also let you try on the sizes when they arrive (next month).

  • Yeah, if there's a large,that'd be good.

You mean, apart from these guys:

    They look pretty cool.
Would they be strong enough for head to concrete though?

Thats a good question. Also, if theyre not cycle helmets they'll probably invalidate any tourney insurance. How much you care is an entirely different matter, however..

  • They look ideal from the way they sit around the face. Shouldn't interfere with head movement.

    However, they also look retarded.

Considering they're Irish, GAA helmets are a pretty standard choice considering they'll have used them already in school.

I bought a grill online instead, and it doesn't fit. Waste of money. I'm seriously considering a hurling helmet if I can try one on somewhere first.

  • You can try mine if you're at drinks (Easts excluded)

Might have a look at that grill Iain, the one I've fitted is quite chunky and I'm not sure about the visibility.

But they do look as if they are in a PE class.
Imagine them in rolled up jeans, vans and a paid shirt ... i think this would change your opinion.

    Furry Muff.

McCarthy / Eybrows, i would like to give one a go.

  • nowt wrong with cricket helmets too fellas.

Ha, I thought about this as well.

  • My aunt has been involved with the gaa, If there was interest I could see if she could maybe get a deal on a batch of helmets.

I don't know how much of a reality this could be, but would be worth a punt.

  • i like the mycro helmet, i dont like the gap in the cooper helmet.

I'd comsider making an order for the mycro helmets at the end of next month.

(but I will be going for the PE class look, sorry Pique)
