Oxy-10 FTW.... seriously - overnight improvement.
I also never had problems before I got a Charge Spoon. Its much more comfy than my old Selle Italia which I suspect was manufactured from a slab of granite, but never had sores with it.
Might change back and see what happens.

Balki if you are coming to SE's tonight have a sit on my Arione- great saddles.
I got incipient sores with my old Selle Italia, threw it in the bin and fitted the Arione and they went at once pretty much- and I've ridden the fuji wearing lycra just the once on the track day.

Airione = stuffed with diamonds and gold.
I'd rather not spend a hundred bazillion dollars.

Mine was caused by a Kashimax Aero... Pisti told me he'd just nabbed one for his HHSB last night, I made that ^ Hilary face...

Pay £90 and have no saddle sores.
Pay £20 and have burning pinpoints of puss filled agony on your arse.
I'd find the £70 required to make my arse happy in that situation?

+1, my Turbomatic nearly split me in half while biking to Brighton, but sores are a thing of the past.

Had the sebaceous cysts removed on Thursday. Operation took about 25 minutes under local anaesthetic. The problem was as there is a lot of scar tissue in the area it did not take the anaesthetic well, a leather strap to bite on would have helped!
Have a 2-3 inch scar now on each sit bone, with 4 or 5 stitches in each, not a pretty sight at all. I now have to wait until next week to have the stitches out. Was thinking I could HTFU and cycle this weekend - fucking idiot! Its barely comfortable to sit, the idea of a saddle rubbing at the stitches does not warrant consideration.

This is bringing back memories of my testicular torsion surgery. I nearly reopened that wound misclipping and sitting down hard on the nose of my saddle a few weeks after surgery :O

Likewise but made the mistake of using google images. A quick straw poll of pics suggests a new nipple growing is the closest to a description I can come up with.

I don't think I've ever been more glad to be a girl, condolences to the afflicted...

was it operated on before hour 12, or did you loose the fella?

I don't see any other chicks commenting on here and lots of gooch talk so I don't know if I'm getting the same saddle sores as you guys are. Basically, I have freaking callouses where my sit bones are. I'm riding double what I did in NYC, yes, but I'm back on a bike that is more to my size - the top tube was too long on the Coventry Eagle. I'm riding the same saddle as in NYC (the last place I did riding this regular, but it was last September when I had to quit).
The only thing I can come up with that is different is I'm not wearing padded shorts. But how do I get rid of the callouses? I'm not going to the salon and have the lady give me a butticure.
I'm not sure if I have the 'sit-bones' thing - it may well be that my arse is too fat for that - but after long rides I used to get soreness in the general area. My tip would be waxing, not shaving - pressure there from the saddle causes ingrowing hairs, which waxing mitigates. Also, sugoi padded shorts are the best I've had.
I've never dipped into the murky world of sudocreme. I don't particularly want to smell like a baby.

Somehow I'd been through multiple incidences of >12hr pain over the course of 15 years or so, but never entered the realm of 'it's not about the ball'.

i've got sores so f*cking bad right now... literally daren't ride as they keep getting worse. going to have to take a few days off, does anyone have any tips to help heal faster? think it's my shorts that have led me to here... never had the problem last year though...

Shorts/pads wear out. Change them.
Use Chamois cream on longe rides.
Savlon aids healing.
I have had recurring sores on both sit bones for most of this year. They flare up and go back down but taking antibiotics every month is not a long term solution. Possibly caused by ingrown hairs, they want to excavate both areas. May be offbthe bike or riding geared and standing up all the way to work and back!
