I am with o2 and have been for about 10 years - my contract was coming to an end and I was tempted to go to another provider with the temptation of a Wii + notebook and some magic beans for the same money I was paying with o2, so phoned them up and said I wanted to cancel they asked why and I told them bla wii - beans and they said well you have been with us a while and would like to keep you, I asked what they had to offer they went through some deals and all I could hear over her was Wii Wii Wii yes Wii so I thanked her for her time and said id still like to cancel and she said hold on ill pop you on hold. she came back an offered 1000min, 1000txt, unlimited data for 15 pounds a month on an 18 month contract which I would pay nothing for for the first 12 months plus I got a phone upgrade :D
So if you have been with them for a few years just phone up and say you have been offered a deal see what they offer just keep saying:
"hmmmm"
"that is a good offer...but"
"maybe ill look around"
"can I phone you back"
"I do like being with you guys"until you get something you want

O2 pay as you go. Not sure what I get from it but I top up £10 every six weeks or so and that seems to last me. Every time I get a marketing call from a phone company, none of them seem to think they can do any better.
Also, I managed to kill my phone at the weekend and it only cost me £20 to replace it. Mind you, I am a luddite and do insist on the cheapest phone with the least possible number of functions on it.

I've just switched to T-Mobile Solo... one of these rolling 30 day contracts.
Except I opted for the 12 month version ("Solo 12") which means I get 1100 minutes, unlimited texts and 1GB internet for £25 a month.
You just have to bring your own phone to the party.

esave.com FTW - they've never let me down, been buying Carphone Warehouse cashback deals through them (they are part of CPW) for years, never had a problem. Just taken out a new deal on Orange, 600 anytime any network minutes, 500 texts, unlimited landline minutes and 500mb internet with a new Nokia 6303 for £9.70 a month after cashback.
That link is a cashback link, so if you do go through them follow it just before you order and we'll both get £20.

i was going to get a Tmobile rolling one mth contract for my mother but they charge separately to collect voicemails (ie its not a part of the free calls plan),, bit off i thought.
sorry if i missed something.

Yeah the voicemail charge is a fairly shameless money grab by T-mobile... hence my voicemail message which specifically asks callers **not **to leave a me costly voicemail but to text or ring back later (cheap? oh dear yes).
Anyway... voicemails have that annoying habit of cutting out to static right when the key words are being spoken by the message leaver, so it's no great loss to me. But I can see how that is probably not ideal for your mother...

you can also ring up t-mobile or any other supplier and cancel your voicemails, then your phone will just ring on until either they get bored or you answer it.

Recently sorted myself out with a new website for the freelance side of my work along with email addresses for myself and a few people I hire. Any recomendations on an alternative to a Blackberry that I can send and receive unlimited IMAP emails with - cheapish if possible - I don't want to be paying £30-£50 a month if possible - Not sold by iPhones... Preferably something that looks like a phone not a small laptop and I'm not that into touch screens but quite like the potential for a qwerty keyboard (so long as the keys arent too small).
Have had this HTC suggested - anyone with experience of them? -

EDIT: Maybe Sparky doesn't understand the section descriptions? General being generally about bikes and cycling.

'Sparky'?
There's a misnomer...
I don't really want an 18 month contract, that's the thing. I did request my PAC code, just gotta look for the good deals for them to match it now.
