i for one am delighted to see how cheap the upgrade to lion will be. cheaper in fact than the upgrade i just bought for leopard-snow leopard.

£21 is pretty good, £4 cheaper than the last one.

The only thing I like is Launchpad but that's about it.

dunno about those '250' new feature, I remember the last one have similar amount of number but rarely ever use those new feature.

Improvements to the Mail and Safari user-interfaces look good. When you're busy at work, anything to make these things quicker and easier to use, I'm in favour of.

iOS5 looks gooooooooooood, you can see when someone's read a message you've sent!

I went sim only and stumped up for a 4. Best thing I ever did. £5pm contract with unlimited internet.

I did the same but the cheapest tariff I could find was Tesco's (O2) £10-a-month for 500 mins talk, unlimited text and 500MB data. Had to cut SIM down to fit but wasn't hard...

£600 for the 32GB handset but well worth it if you shoot lots of video and take lots of photos. Keep it pristine, sell on when new model comes out, repeat until dead.

Tried to kick off about it in the apple store, as I had asked them whether they recommended using a screen protector, but they said they weren't willing to swap it out. They're only tiny, but it's still annoying for resale I guess.

The 'Home' button on my iPhone 4 has become unresponsive. Apparently it's happened to other people, possibly dust under the contact point.

on my iphone 3g, had to have the home button replaced in australia, as it had become copletely unresponsive. works perfectly fine now, don't think its that difficult a fix, had to have mine done fast and didn't want to lose the info on the phone so did it outside of the apple store.

Oh you can take it to the Apple shop, when I brought my iPhone to O2 for repair, they said it's usually faster for me to go to the Apple shop and get it repaired there instead of going through O2

I didn't as I don't have the time to go up to London just to visit a fruit company, and I have an O2 shop nearby.

Your completely right there Ed, all these 250 features of which people will use 5.

Although I'm tempted to build a hackintosh before long - maybe with lion.

Just done a restore on my unlocked iphone 3GS (4.3.3) and I've been locked out! In iTunes, I how get a message saying 'The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported.' Any ideas! Have I bricked my phone or is there a solution?

It doesn't sound like you've 'bricked' your phone, just that it's not unlocked.

you can get it unlocked nowadays from any good phone shop.

Quick question regarding excel documents on an iPad, whats the best app to view and edit them? Most of the docs will be stored in dropbox.

That would mean it's an American handset. Were you an AT&T subscriber? Or did you get this phone second hand?

If you got it 2nd hand, just jailbreak it. You won't be able to get AT&T to unlock.

I've used documents-to-go, it works but is not that special (UI is a bit poor and the integration with dropbox is not that well done). Quickoffice seems to get better write ups and integrates with dropbox too. I think there are a few different versions of it though.

is it possible to sync an ipad from an ipod (classic) without a computer or internet connection?

or... is it possible to play video out from an ipod classic to a screen?

You have to wait for icloud.

I wouldn't have thought either of those were possible, but couldn't be sure.

You'd probably have to 'rip' the contents of your classic using a program like ephpod or something similar, instal it all in your itunes on your comp, then synch to your ipad.

Long, pretty tedious process, but you do only have to do it once ;)

I guess I could use an AV converter and a cheap monitor. not quite what i'm looking for but could work.

ideally at least i could get hdmi out of the ipod....

what about manually getting files off the ipod using an SD card, then loading them on to the ipad? would that work? presume i would need to JB the ipad, but can i get the files off the ipod?

How can I quickly remove everything from and iPad? I mean settings for email/apps and other login information for applications on the iPad.
