  • Westworld continues to go downhill. Slow, ponderous, very clever with grandiose ideas that never pay off. Should've called it off at the end of S01.

  • that's exactly what I did, and for that same reason

  • Me too. Halfway through episode 1 S2 we parted ways

  • Anyone watched Upload on Amazon Prime?
Looks comedic near future sci fi
Watched a little. Near future minus Covid though which is strange.

Given how devestatingly depressing it was first time around I might rewatch Years & Years, in the current clime it might actually cheer me up this time.

  • Iplayer -
Double agent. The Eddie Chapman story.
    Well worth a look.

  • Brooker's Antiviral Wipe. Philomena Cunk's interview with Prof Andrew Pollard is brilliant.

  • Anybody who continued watching DEVS - is it worth it?

  • Anyone watching ESPNs The Last Dance profiling Michael Jordan and his time with the Bulls? Entertaining viewing

  • I've had the last two episodes to watch for the last couple of weeks. Maybe that says something.

  • Fuck me...how does a show like Ozark not have the hype of some of the dross that gets fawned over.
Better Call Saul is the best thing on tv, but watch your back Vince, Ozark is so fucking close.

    Oh, just done season 1

  • No, not really. Thought the ending was pretty weak...

  • ^^ Maybe because it's like fan tribute to Breaking Bad? And Jason Bateman is the same character in every programme or film and that character is a comic one not a dramatic one?

  • You're going to love 2 & 3

  • Yeah we're really enjoying it (watching current season atm) - just gets darker and darker and worse and worse stuff gets normalised in it :-)

  • Admittedly Ozark is definitely funnier than the last season of arrested development.

  • Thanks @paininthe & @owl for your feedback. Probably won't bother then though I really liked the visual style and mood a lot.

  • Also whoever claimed that Killing Eve was turning to shit a while back - sad to say so but meanwhile I do agree.

  • On a more positive note I just finished the last season of Schitt's Creek and pretty much enjoyed that.
    🙂

  • I thought Ozark was utter derivative bollocks...I can see the pitch “think breaking bad but with accountancy instead of chemistry”
Does it get any less punchable after season 1?

  • Just finished season 1 of Ozark. Really enjoyed it, though it absolutely wouldn't have existed without Breaking Bad. Love Laura Linney and that they're not scared to kill off my favourite characters.

Haven't watched the latest Better Call Saul series yet, but the last one got so slow moving and soap opera-ish I'm not in a great rush.

I rushed and was not disappointed.
Slow is good. Last season ramps up towards the end

  • Handmaid's Tale is funnier that the last season of arrested development.

  • Slow moving was what they did in Breaking Bad, too. Then you get to a point where things change very quickly and you realise almost every detail in the last X episodes was building to this.

Also, the details that weren't part of the plot are often gems. Like a German-American food franchise called "Luftwaffle".

The latest series moves a hell of a lot closer to Breaking Bad and isn't slow about it when it finally happens. Also Luftwaffle.

  • It's beautifully slow and Americana-y but then a bunch of great shit happens, I think the pacing of both are bang on, you get lost in it then shocked even more by something because of it.
