The pace doesn't really change but it's definitely worth sticking with.
The characters and plots are fantastic. Give it another 3 or 4 episodes...

It does get a lot better. I too found the first episode a little boring, but stick with it.

the wire was ruined by tedious pub bores saying 'Why are you not watching the Wire? you HAVE to watch the Wire!' as if doing so would elevate you to a higher state of consciousness. I don't give a fuck how good it is, i still won't watch it because doing so will give the aforementioned some sort of smug self satisfaction.
That and the Guardian weekend supplement.
/tbf, we tried two episodes, couldn't understand a word anyone was saying and deleted the rest.

And another thing. Seriously, watch the Wire from start to finish if only for context around the scenes that involve Omar. Best character EVER.

I need a new box set / tv series to get my teeth into. Please help.
Parameters:
Not breaking bad (seen it)
Not subtitled (I watch TV for monging)
I have Netflixi really got into ncis
watch via couch tuner from episode 1
characters are very likeable
funny witty although not a comedy
it's once of those crime scene type series, no real soap opera style plot each episode is pretty much stand alonei would recommend 9/10

And another thing. Is Alias any good? 20 or so episodes in and it looks like it might be a load of steaming shite, but for some reason I keep watching. Any suggestions?
Stick with it, you need to watch another 20-25 episodes.

its on tonight in the states... set your alarm for 4am and watch it online.
damn hooked on this show, only time will tell if the nation gets hooked like breaking bad but this maybe too dark for some.(sorry, no pizzas chucked on roofs)
plus its shot on 35mm
also under the dome, well written but some of the acting is cringe worthy.

Salamander on BBC 4 has started promisingly.
Previously on AMC's The Walking Dead...
Rick's throaty whisper survives and Carl is now a man so he'd better start mumbling too. Someone decided to give Michonne a bit of back story. Apparently before the zombies, sorry, walkers, arrived she lived in a very badly written soap opera. Who would have guessed. -

Parks and Recreation is back on iPlayer, and that is a good thing.

That last episode of The Walking Dead. I think I only understood about 3 of the words that came out of Rick's mouth.

Babylon
New C4 drama series - Really enjoyed, the way it's filmed, the speed it went, characters and story. Danny Boyle builds the tension really well.

Inside no 9 very good so far!

couple of people binning off a series after the first episode is like reading the first couple pages of a book and going...Nope don't like it.
Poor effort, but each to their own.
Saying that, I gave revolution (sky show about the power going off) 5 episodes I wish I hadn't. You need a couple of shows to give everything depth imo

Second series of 'Line of Duty'
Gripping and shocking. -

I watched that too - pretty good so far. You can really notice the peep show / fresh meat dry humour in it coming from the writers (forgot their names). Will be interesting to see if the quality holds up.
This lead me to start on a C4 british drama binge, and am watching Utopia, which was aired in autumn I think. Also good so far (only two episodes in). Pretty grim and shocking at times, but doesn't rely on it.

You will also want to eat pizza all the fucking time.
The Wire is available now on Sky+
I know it's supposed to be all that and a bag of kittens, but I got bored halfway through episode one and switched it off. Just another cop show but with cops that gratuitously say 'fuck' all the time stereotypical drug dealers that say 'nigga' in every sentence. Does it get better? Is it worth persevering with or is the first episode fairly indicative of the general tone and pace?
