I've seen that wobbling its way down the road. Didn't look like much fun to ride especially with the rear swaying all over the place. What's the verdict so far Bill?

Anyone know if trailers such as that below are DIY jobs (Bit of camber on the trailer wheels, or is it just weight) or can they be bought? Or maybe there are plans for them about?
I'm going to guess that anyone hoping to carry that much weight would ultimately require electrical assistance?

You don't necessary need electrical assistance, but for some it can be useful.
You can buy those trailer, let me find them.

Alright I may be wrong but here's a similar one you can buy;

Thanks. Pretty expensive. Could maybe be put together cheaper by a welder here?
-
• #489
On the contrary, £350 for the biggest one is pretty good value for a trailer that are rated for 300lbs.
You can quite possibly get one cheaper (and it have been done countless time) by a welder, you just need to decided what's the max load capacity will be.

• #490
Thanks, I hadn't considered the weight at all.
-
• #491
Also consider the load on the hitch. The last thing you want is 100kg + load uncoupling from the bike.
Surly make a couple of nice trailers http://surlybikes.com/bikes/bill_trailer
But again you're looking at £450 for the trailer then another £240 for the hitch. Depends on how much you intend to carry and how often. I was considering getting one of these for my Bullitt to carry the other framesets to storage. But for £700 I figured that its cheaper to book a van sadly -

You wouldn't want to ride uphill very far, but I pulled 300kg in Max trike au nature. Slowly, and with a wide range of gears. Most of the rick-shaw guys do not have electric assist, and they pull 2 people.

^^ those Surly trailers look pretty good quality and the hitch great
