I rang Goldtec up, nice peeps and helpful as always, front bearings are 6002 RS.
Try Mercury, they have a branch in Bow which would be a rideable distance from you: http://www.mercuryltd.co.uk/contact.html

Ok let me state for the record that TS convinced me last night to try plain gauge spokes basically because of cost, but for every one that breaks at polo he's got to buy me a beer, alright? :)
-
• #556
will you share the beers if we help you break them?
-
• #557
The difference between DT Champion and Competition is just 5.50 for 50 spokes from Rosebikes.
I have calculated the spoke length I need but can't decide between silver or black. WTH are black spokes more expensive than silver? FUUUUUUUUU!!!!!
-
• #558
Black DT spokes are painted, black Sapims have the colour bonded to them by a magical process... The colour won't chip...

Silver are more common, supply and demand beagle. (Or economies of scale of you prefer).
-
• #560
But close to 100% markup - 22p for silver v. 42p for black? It's only a tenner difference but the bloody accountant in me wouldn't let me click the checkout button!

repd
but now I can't shift that image.
nerged instead.

Beagle nerged me so a rep would even that out at least, I guess I get off lightly if he doesn't punch me.

[/url]We have 6000 written in the spreadsheet at work but if Goldtec says 6002 I must go change it… RS just stands for rubber seals btw, doesn't affect the dimensions.

Does anyone apart from Surly use 7k-series angular thrust bearings in 135-spaced SS/Fixed hubs?
I'm finding the 6ks in my Echo TR hubs get sloppy quickly: not terminal play but if it was loose bearings I'd adjust the cones. This is with the wheel firmly secured in the dropouts so the inner casing is pinched between ridges on the axle and the sleeves which fill the space to the dropout. I think the movement is within the bearing, rather than the outer casing moving in the hub body as it's all in line with the axle.

Tried enduro or SKF bearings yet? Could the hub be damaged?
-
• #571
How much riding have you done? How many times have you tightened the cones?
AC bearings take a while to break in, you'll need to adjust the preload a good few times as the bearings settle.

In the next 3 months or so I will need to change the bearings in my Hope Pro2 Evo front and rear Pro2 Evo Trials. They're starting to grind.
Would it be worth group buying on this or will the savings be in pennies and not worth it?
Also, are SKF/FAG still the leading brands? I am not happy with the bearings Hope put in these hubs from stock. Okay they've done lots of revs, but in relatively nice conditions and they're only 18 months old. Every other wheelset in my house has outlasted these, including the Sturmey ones on my missus' townbike. It's not as if they're as resistance-free as the Campy ones on my roadbike, either!

Both Dave and Cam have replaced their rear hub bearings in the past, maybe check with them which replacement bearings they opted for?

This guy seems to have Enduro bearings for the front hub at a bargain price: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HOPE-PRO-2-FRONT-6804-WHEEL-BEARINGS-ENDURO-TOP-QUALITY-STAINLESS-BEARINGS-X2-/141066820242
Pretty sure I got mine from Simply Bearings, you might be lucky and get something at Condor or BLB... Prolly not SKFs tho'...
