I find it rather amusing that those of you who hated her for whatever reason just can't keep out of this post! Here you are days later still talking about her! It would seem she niggled you in life and now in death ha ha well done jade RIP
Comments like she's fat etc please what the hell has that got to do with anything.
As it has been said over and over a 27 year old woman has died and two young children are now without there mother, what she did or didn't do in her life that wasn't up to many of your standards (pffft) who really gives a dam, the love she felt for her children was unconditional, and wanting the best for them to secure there future, jesus who the hell wouldnt want the same.
Im not saying people should be upset because she has died, just have a little respect all your personal opinions of her are not really necessary are they ? She had a painful death, in which I feel for those children, to see there mother like that must have been very upsetting, and being that the youngest is only 3 years old, how the hell do you think he is coping with something he probably doesnt even understand ? He just want his mum back.
I have lost close family friends including a 10 year old little girl die with cancer, its heartbreaking believe me to see them in so much pain. And its more heartbreaking knowing there is absolutely nothing you can do to help them. So come on guys have a little respect put the hatred aside and have a thought for her family and friends after all they are the ones that knew the true jade goody aren't they ?

Some of the bile on this thread is far more offensive than Jade Goody could ever have been.
I didn't know nor care for her, or her media magnetism. However, she battled cancer and lost - for that alone RIP Jade.

Todays guardian has a very interesting article on Ms Goody. Well worth a read, about the cult of celebrity and such.

Will Self writes about Jade Goody and our attitude to death:
Interesting, although I disagree with a lot of it.

I don't care about her, she die from cancer it's a shame but nonetheless, read thelondonpaper on the way back home on the train (wet and too tired to cycle 11 miles home)...
they "might" be making a movie about her life, apparenty.

AND... just been in Tesco to pick up some food, guess what OK magazine said? full photo of Jade, with a caption "in mourning to one of our brightest star "
Or something along the line, I kinda startled other tescogoer by muttering "for fuck sake" a little too loudly.

To be honest I do get pissed off with this whole thing, and to be fair it's not directed at Jade herself, yes she was a bit of a numpty but so are a lot of people, it's the fucking crocodile tears in the media that pisses me off!
First they hate her and say she's a bully and racist (which to be fair there may have been an element of truth to) but of course, there is no such thing as bad publicity so she makes a bundle out of this, then she gets cancer and the media are all over it protraying her as a saint, make your fucking mind up!
The story is over now, no one benefits from dragging it on, let the family get over it and don't be fucking shoving it down our throats either.

Oh I understand, I don't care about her at all, the bully is questionable as well as the racism, it just the general public wanting shitload of information about her, she's literally a live version of Eastender.
About the racist claim, says you're having a fight with a black bloke (for example), and you two got so angry, that you'd choose the harshest word you can think of to call him, the first couple of word would be "nigger" easily, would that make him a racist bloke because he screamed a racist slur to the black bloke?
that's where the line is a bit blurry, the bloke could be a racist bigot, or simply a nice bloke who's all for anti-racism but end up loosing his temper. -
• #267
Yeah the whole bully/racist thing i'm not sure about as I never watched "that show" which is why I wasn't sure about how true it is, what I do know is that once again, it was plastered all over the media, most likely blown out of proportion but i'd guess there was an element of truth to start it.

If all this for Jade Goody, I should think a we might have National Day of Mourning for when Rusty Lee or maybe Wincey Willis kick the bucket?
Queue, list of microscopic "celebs".

I just don't have much in the way of pity for her. Even the 'yeah, but think of the kids' arguments just do not wash with me. I feel really bad for her family and those close to her but I object to having it thrust upon me by our ever-intrusive media. I would have been truly shocked if i had found out that she had died without having publicised her illness, but the media synthesising grief on my behalf is, in my opinion, obnoxious.
I have nothing at all against Goody as a person, although as a celebrity brand she represented much that I abhor in our society. Her death is just not any of my business. I'm not easily offended but I found her high-profile 'celebrity death' entirely vulgar and undignified. Who could deny that having Max Clifford do the hospital spokesperson bit is anything but crass? Whilst I wouldn't wish what she has been through on anyone and as sad as it is, if i were being cynical I'd suggest that her death was the ultimate ending to her choice of career in public life.
My aunty is having an extremely hard time of it at the moment and a tremble when I think of it. This fact has provoked anger in me when I'm surrounded by evocative/provocative images and words designed to milk my sensitivity, with (undeniably) the aim of selling me newspapers etc. Regardless of her particular plight, I find this despicably immoral.
I was rattled when I heard she had died, it's one of the saddest stories I can remember.

A definite +1 to Superprecise.
The 'but think of her kids and family' thing does annoy me, as does the 'well how would you like it if you/your partner/your mum etc. got Cancer?' argument. It's got nothing to do with it. I'm not going to feel sympathy for someone I had no respect for in life, just because they died of a painful illness.
There were two ladies in the queue behind me at the supermarket, and they were actually planning on going to her house to lay some flowers, before going to stand outside her funeral. Granted, each to their own, but I just can't understand why...
I think that's what I was trying to say (badly) - the personal connection isn't a prerequisite for feeling bad/empathy/sympathy etc.....unless you're jimjams ;)
