Few thoughts:
- £80 for a 3 hr bikefit is an absolute bargain.
- Speedplay pedals are a dream to work with and allow more modification and positional adjustment than any other system for patients with lower limb issues.
- Almost everyone would benefit from a bikefit, even a DIY job. Your knee at 90rpm for 4 hrs is a lot of load and little irritations will accumulate.
I have a 2 week wait for fittings, less for physio.

Bluerip - would it be worth having a second bike fit? Scherrit did one years ago that helped a lot, but since then I'm doing way more exercise so my strength / fitness / flexibility is bound to have changed. I sometimes still have slight niggles in my right knee at longer distances (30km+) but haven't had any real issues.
£80 for one is reasonable to say the least

Decided I'm sticking with the speedplays on the audax bike too. Then on the fixed gear I may switch to them or flats and straps so I've still got a bike I can ride in trainers.
I can't scrimp when it comes to the cost of pedals/cleats when it comes to my knees ffs!

Anyone on here know of good high arch footbeds for size 52 shoes? They all seem to stop at size 49 apart from Superfeet greens, which according to Steve Hogg don't do to well for people with high arches.
Cheers!

Hey Scherrit! I'll PM you, I've been thinking about getting another pair of shoes set up, just 'cos I've got them lying around and I fancy giving them a try. SPD-SLs this time rather than the gigantic SPDs I brought to my bikefit...

Bike fit this weekend just gone.
Had a great fit, stem is now inverted and I've changed bars to something wider.
I mentioned the pain on the inside of my knee, I've been told to start stretching my hip flexors (something I never did before now) and spin when on the bike as much as possible, don't mash gears.
So the next few weeks I'm going to be building it up slowly again, spinning for the win not getting out of the saddle and stretching as much as possible.
Then come the catch up in 8 weeks time I should hopefully see a difference.
On a side note - I don't know what this is called but you sit with a pillow under your leg, bring your toes back and raise the leg, when I do that my knee is constantly clicking, could this be an issue?

Not sure if this helps but my pal is a physio and her recommendation to me following a bit of knee/cruciate pain after a holiday was as follows:
Frequent non-effective stretching of the IT band (big muscle on the outside of your quad) causes contraction (I'm not a medically trained so please excuse the non-jargon) which has a knock on effect on your knee, irritating the cruciate and in some cases the surrounding area.
By effective rolling of the muscle, regularly, you can seriously help and guard against knee pain. I've been doing it since my hol and found it to be very helpful.
Heal fast!
PS not mashing gears is also very good advice.

Wouldn't call it knee pain as such, but couldn't get to sleep last night for this uncomfortable burning irritation in my knees. Anyone else get this?

I was sticking hot pins in my legs earlier in the day. You think maybe that's got something to do with it?

Having some non riding related pain at the minute!
Today at the physio I'd been doing some things to get my shoulder strong again after an older injury, I was holding a small weight, went to go and out it back on the rack when I lost my balance and stumbled, my knee made a noise that sounded to me like a bang and initially there was a shooting pain.
I let the trainer guy know about it and he sat me down, said we had to stop and wouldn't share for the rest of the hour etc but that it sounded to him like I'd torn or
Partially torn my ACL and that I needed to get it seen to.This is really worrying to me, I'm still in pain when I'm lying and my knee feels incredibly unsteady.

Someone should start putting together a 'yoga for cyclists' session...focus on all the decent leg and core stuff. It helped my shoddily-constructed lower back no end

I banged my knee on a bar-end shifter on Friday. Really hard. Like, I-almost-threw-up-on-the-handlebars hard.
It was really painful that day, and the day after, but I'm still riding the few miles to work on it, slowly. It's getting better but is still very swollen. It still hurts to bend my leg past 45 degrees, and to lift that leg when sitting in a chair.
I'm slightly worried because it's not just going away, like usual. I also have a mountain bike race on Saturday night which I really want to do.
Any thoughts?

Done.
My LBS lowered my saddle height by 15mm when doing some repair work. They must have regreased it and refitted it to be nice. I wasn't aware at the time, and didn't realise for a week, but all of a sudden I started getting right knee pain. It resolved within a few weeks of changing back to the original height. Kind of put a dampener on my RvV sportive ride though.
I'm not sure a bike fit is necessary but I definitely see the importance of finding a bike position that is right for you, one way or another.
