^This. Welcome home there little chap. (yours now).

i quite like cats - but i'm allergic to them and all the neighbors' cats crap in my garden - so when i see one stalking about outside looking for a nice spot to take a shit in my flowerbeds i go up to the window quietly and glare at it until its 6th sense tells it something is wrong and it turns to me with a slight look of panic - the best is when they are already settling down for a poo. they always look as if they know i don't wish them well - i would never harm them of course but i enjoy seeing them realise with shame that i have more successfully stalked them than they have crept around in my garden for an illicit turd.
i consider myself to be kind to animals but cats somehow feel like worthy and equal foes. does that make me mean? apologies for thread hijack
Get some 'Silent Roar' stopped the evil brown cat from shitting on my garlic patch.

Wolfy returns!
^^ It's what everyone was secretly hoping for
^This. Welcome home there little chap. (yours now).
I'm conflicted, as I'm sure you are cleft. Little chap wants a home and you clearly love him. But I can't help of thinking that somewhere there's a family beside itself with worry about their lost kiteh..
But, if you get him scanned and there's no chip you've done all you can do the best you could do for him is to take him in and give him a loving home.. I'd liked to think that if our Molly want missing.

I am conflicted - he's such a lovely cat I can't help thinking there's someone missing him - I know I would if he was mine.
Posters have been up all week, had one call from my batty neighbour who just wanted to know the gossip - and another from a chap that lost his black cat last Sept - nowt else. This is the current plan, as long as he comes back tonight:
- Take kitteh to vets to see if he has a chip
- If he has chip - trace the owner
- If no chip - arranged to have him chipped with our info (this can always be transferred if we find the owner)
- change his collar and put my phone number on it. - If he is going back to another house they will notice this and hopefully call me.
- If nothing happens - he stays with me as long as he wants.

He's sprawled out on the bed upstairs - so tomorrow he gets scanned, Long&Winding is very kindly lending me a kitty carrier for the occasion.

So he has no chip, we've booked him in to have one next Saturday morning, he is now happily playing with the catnip mouse i bought him at the pet shop earlier.
I also bought a little canister for his existing collar, going to put my details in it and attach it. -

Just received entertaining phonecall from small child.
me: hello?
child: you found my cat?
me: I might have done, can you tell me what he looks like?
child: nah, can't remember but he's my cat
me: if you can't describe what your cat looks like then maybe it's not yours, I mean you could be anyone. Can you tell me what he looks like?
long pause
child: ok, I'll buy a new cat
me: yes you do that, bye.
clickTime to take the posters down soon I think, seeing as I now have my details round his neck...

When we lost Oscar, I got one crank call from some kids in the middle of the night, saying that they had my cat, and were feeding it to their dog... not very convincing, and not very funny either.

Awful news about the barbed wire, hope the recovery is good!
Pretty thrilling news about your new cat Clefty! He definitely looks like a keeper!
Clefty's crank call was funny, Bill's was unnerving, kids are dicks. -

Mike often quotes this
"A dog thinks: Hey, those people I live with feed me, love me, provide me with a nice warm, dry house, pet me, and take good care of me.....They must be gods!"
