Mike has let him in and he is curled up on the sofa asleep next to me.
I called the local vet today and they are happy to scan him for free to see if he has a chip - but that will have to wait until next weekend, as they are shut tomorrow.Went knocking on doors in our surrounding streets, and although one lady said she'd seen him, she didn't know who he belonged to, so I'm going to print some 'Found Cat' posters with a number (but no description to deter chancers) around our local roads and for the moment while he wants to, he can stay with me.
We'll put him out tonight and see if he finds his own way home, if not he always has his little cardboard kennel outside the back door that's sheltered under the awning. If he comes back tomorrow I'll give him a little food. He hasn't been cadging for food so doesn't seem starving.
So I'm just foster mum for the moment, part of me hopes I'll find the owner, part of me hopes I wont..Even Mike (who's a dog man) has bonded with him.

He's called Wolfie as I've been watching the darts today.
Feel bad about putting him out tonight especially when he's like this, but he'll still have his outdoor kennel

Good idea, I've just found an Ealing community forum, so will post a message on there as well.

Fed him some tuna and after a snooze on the sofa put him out for the night, after a bit of meowing he got the message and is now curled up asleep on top of his kitteh kennel, which has a wrapped up hot water bottle inside and is covered in a thick blanket.

Still there this morning?

Yep - he was curled up in his box this morning, have let him back in. He's curled up asleep on the sofa purring while we bash holes in walls upstairs
The vet on Pitshanger is open until 7pm weekdays so gonna ring them tomorrow and see if we can bring him in on Tuesday night and get him scanned. Posters go up tomorrow, have also posted on a local community forum and had a look at the local lost pets site - nothing yet. -

yes, that is how I got Duckie back! But it was someone else on the forum who found it on the local forum. they even put up cat found posters, although I didn't see them.. I guess they didn't think of chancers, thankfully.
of course now that Duckie comes when called it's easier to convince the people on the towpath he's with me :)
Cooper looks the absolute Don but I think he's annoyed by the alignment of your bar plug!
