  • i was going to go down on saturday again

  • In advance of the track day in September I'm hoping to do an induction at HH this Saturday. Any other people inexperienced in the ways of the track fancy joining me?

(Saturday is the only induction session per week, right?)

You can do induction on a Monday night by arrangement.

  • ^ Ah OK, thanks for that. If this Saturday doesn't work out I may try for next Monday.

i was going to go down on saturday again

    Deal-breaker. I'm out ;-)

  • another f$£&ing punctured tub!

  • damn those youth drinkers.

time to switch back to clinchers???

i've been at work all day, so missed yet another session.

    woo hoo.

  • I've actually just ordered some clincher rims to build up asap!

it's mainly people riding round the car park, then straight onto the track without cleaning their tyres off, bringing bits of flint and shit with them. if you want to run tubs on a saturday, use road ones with a puncture bead.

  • windeh as fuck too.

That 20mm conti clincher willo gave me (thanks!) takes 11 bar and was rolling very nicely.

  • Good session today. Nice to see all and good to see you out there d.mac.

  • nice new bike, the d-mac has there..

    • 1

    ebay steal apparently.

  • Nice to be there. Now I have bike should be a regular attendee.

  • d.mac's new tarck is radical... I sawz it... Bargainous 2 da maxxx!!! :]

  • I suppose I oughta keep the 12th free now ....a new tarck for the tarck day. 853 ftw.
Just need to find some legs to go with it now.

  • Strange session at the track today.

Not too many people but two ambulances. One to a guy who went off during the induction and another during the rotation. Clive the Coach described the slow rotation group as the worst he had ever had.

On the plus side, I kept up throughout and really felt as though I had shown some improvement.

  • Interesting. I'm out with a nasty cold so took it easy.

Glad to hear Clive to the O is OK.

What happened then, people not listening to instructions?

  • saturdays are always risky looking, some people just don't listen to instructions.
two ambulances in one season doesn't seem to bad though!

  • Is next week the last of the season?

  • Not listening, watching or thinking.

Saturdays will continue for a month or so. Usual rule is until 2 or 3 in a row are canceled due to dew.

  • I didn't see the first but the second was a chap who had been riding erratically and annoyingly all morning. He didn't listen to the coaches nor to anyone else, rode too fast, clipped the wheel of the girl in front of him while doing rotation and went down. I am not sure how he failed to bring anyone down wit him but luckily everyone was able to evade him. Nasty broken collar bone.

  • Wac

  • Zed - do you know him or were you there?

The second crashed rider is actually a friend of mine from work.
And he's currently at home nursing a nasty broken collar bone and several broken ribs.
I wasn't there but his description is similar to cliveo's - he was too close to the person in front and clipped their wheel as they turned off, he went down and was then hit by the rider behind.
Luckily no-one else came off and he spent the night in hospital.
He says there was a woman with blonde hair who was very helpful and would like to thank her but can't recall her name.
    (Can anyone help?)
Also he wishes to thank the rest of the staff down there.
Hopefully I can pass that thanks on to them this weekend.
He's no spring chicken and may be off any bike for a while.

So maybe he wasn't riding very well. And maybe - according to Cliveo's description at least - it was little surprise that he did crash.
But whilst I think it's perfectly acceptable for people who he was riding with or who saw the session to comment on that, I don't think it merits a "WAC" from someone who wasn't.

I think he's learned a very painful lesson.

  • I would not take my comments personally.

Its lucky your friend did not take anyone else down with him.

  • @ Zed - OK point taken.
I may be a little oversensitive as I was supposed to go there with him.
And yes, he admits himself it was lucky no-one else was hurt.
He's a reasonably experienced road rider, but a novice on the track.
Anyway I doubt he'll be riding again at HH any time soon.

  • The trouble is in close tight groups when someone decides to ignore the advice of the experienced coaches, they endanger not only themselves but everyone around them too. I imagine thats why the responses were a bit harsh.

It doesn't matter how much experience you have on the road. Doesn't mean you can get away with not following the coaches instructions. Unfortunately it seems like he learned this the hard way with a nasty injury.

I remember one Sunday session, this guy turned up who thought he could just do what he wanted. He was freaking me out so much with his erratic style and general idiocy, I was preoccupied with what he was going to do that I ended up almost causing a problem by trying to get him off my wheel.
