What time is it? Watches and horology

That Jaeger Le Coultre is magnificent.

Given it has hour, minute, second and date dials (no day) why three crowns?

Here's a shot of my recently acquired Omega '53 RAF watch. I don't like seeing other people's wrists either, so sorry about that.

I've asked several folk already but I have something that I'd like confirmation on that it's the real deal (i.e. not fake).

It's only a guess, but it looks as though the dial area may be split into three sections. There's a pointer on the inner section. See that? You may be able to drive the position of this with one of the crowns. Possibly the same goes for the outer chapter ring.

I would have thought a manual would exist.

Still the date and time setting could have been on the same. Maybe it's just for looks.

Bloke I met today was wearing middle one of these, not the sort of watch I'd imagine liking but it looked so good in the flesh. Don't think I could live with the blue, and too big for my skinny wirsts.

Oh ffs. There is a Max Bill Chrono sitting in Alsal with my name on it. They're doing me a really decent price. Cheaper than I can get online or abroad (taking import tax into account). I really want it but I really should be saving my cash. First world problem right there.

Alsal Watches on Strand. Junghans have put their prices up a bit but Alsal still have a couple in stock that they are selling at the old price.

Reading between the lines (and I could well be wrong), I think Junghans are having to pay more to ETA for movements.
