Jay , I've got a chronomat of that vintage ( but with a mother of pearl dial ) lovely watch . Warning however that will be an expensive service . Dare'nt think how much the crown will be , and I bet they quote for a dial as well . Having said that , Breitling taking about ten weeks to turn around at mo so at least you'll have time to save !

^I beat the crap out of it and want to keep it as cheap as possible so thought for now I'd just ask for an original hand and crown (and a free polish/case).
I got this one serviced at Xmas, it took 2 months, new crocodile strap, new crystal, bezel (really dents easily so rarely ride with it) and full movement service. I was a bit concerned about sending it so I dropped it off at their service centre, was blown away by the place, and I got a free cap and glass of wine
I do like how after a service if I have a problem with it within the next couple of years they sought it out for free. -

That's very pretty as well . I will be surprised if they will do just the hand and crown without a full overhaul . We have Breitling and Bentley Breitling in two of our stores and they are probably the nicest of the manufacturers to deal with .

Is a victorinox divemaster . £700 quartz £995 auto . Built like a brick shithouse . 500m water resist
Nice! Thought it looked like it had a Victorinox logo on it. What are they like in general as watches?
Feel free to send any other freebies my way! -

Feel free to send any other freebies my way!Bit of an afterthought to be honest. A cutlery company famous for its camping knives decides to make watches - watch this space for tents or branded ground sheets.

They've been making them for a good twenty years or so now. My Dad has a divers model from the early Nineties.

In terms of watch history when we look to brands like Omega (1925) or Seiko (1881) as benchmark, a 'good twenty years ago' is dipping a toe in the water.

We sell in my store , my best mate is sales manager for uk . Had for about 2 years and are good value for money . No different to any other " badge engineered " swiss brand . Very few guarantee returns . Ok not as watch buff as my IWC or Breitling or indeed vintage Omegas or Longines am fortunate to own , but still nice .

But then Omega makes jewellery as well as watches and seiko makes all kind of stuff . So ok not pure but not expensive for what they are . And a 3 year warranty is better than Omega or Longines 2 years . You pay your money you take a chance ... If you want a Chopard LUC or a Rolex Daytona in steel give me a shout , we have ' em all etc etc

Cool ejay I'm not disputing that less experienced watch brands might make decent watches. However, in terms of experience in the market of making watches and the knowledge that experience brings plus of course the kudos is incomparable between say Victorinox and Omega.
Moreover, this will never change because in 100 years 'if' Victorinox are still making watches they will have been in the game for over 100 years less than Omega (if they are still making watches).
Sorry but Victorinox are one of those brands that are diversifying and in doing so they come across as disingenuous in the same way that I would be happy to buy a knife from Victorinox I would never buy a spoon from Omega.

I've finally decided to stop riding with my watch on so I thought I'd try to get it cleaned up and repaired back to original (the winder and the small hand on the left dial are fake), here's how it is now, hopefully I'll get down to Tumbridge Wells to have a chat and see what they can do before the weeks up
