  • The B&Rs look good, but it's very much a B&R thing. Which would bother me (but not everyone I'm sure).

  • Not sure on dates, but you might find that its the Bell & Ross that looks like the Seiko. Just sayin'

The might be the case, was just flagging it up/offering my thoughts.

  • Just put a black shark skin strap on my Squale 50 Atmos - tres chic!

  • No matter which way. B&R is sexy. So is the seiko.

  • and if you get bored with it the modding posibilites are virtually endless.

Who mods watches, and who has had it done? I'm thinking about doing it, but it needs if possible to be a reversible process. Just changing a second hand would help.

And I'm feeling dirty. Is buying a fake watch, the original of which has been out of production for 40 years and goes for mega money, shameful and unforgivably naff?

  • Theres a guy in holland that mods seikos http://www.monsterwatches.eu/
As for fakes, as has been discussed, actual fakes are a frowned upon but homages are acceptable (especially if the watch in question would be hard to come buy and cost more than a house if you did)
Actually, speaking of homages and "inspired by" watches, Im seriously considering putting my pennys aside for this Ocean 7 LM5

Its clearly inspired by the Blancpain 50 fathoms and it even has a proper domed sapphire bezel. Of course in an ideal world Id love to own an actual 50 fathoms but the chances of that happening any time soon are somewhat slim to say the least. Thoughts?

  • Nice! The lugs are kinda on the long side but the bezel is purdy. Also, servicing a Blancpain costs as much as a submariner, and, as usual, seikos are better.

  • Imaag non work ^

  • reep?

  • check out the seiko version of the 55 fathoms:

it's nice in stock form, but the homage mods are so good looking.

  • cough

    :)

And besides, I feel bad enough having just Ebayed a bunch of starps, not come to you. In time...

I may be frowned on. Want:

    Tragic.

  • ^^I've been having a look at those and they do look very nice but I think the dials are pretty hard to come by now and the bezel is acrylic. Would definitely be the cheapest option of all the 50 fathoms homages though

    oops.

  • ^ That's lovely Murtz! What's the spec?

  • Seiko 6105 8119 with
a custom, inside anti reflective sapphire by Randall Benson
Mark 2 Custom dial and ladder hands, (both superluma nova)
    a stainless bezel insert from a 300m
and a sterile Rolex Trip-lock crown conversion from another guy in the states Ken Setser

    and thanks :)

  • Am really digging Squale at the moment, picked up a 50 Atmos on shark mesh recently and managed to track down a 1970s NOS Squale in PVD, Beretta do the coatings same as for their guns.

Am very tempted by that Armida A1 bit I thinned out my collection before Christmas only to now see it back to where it was again...

Joel I need to check our your Squales...

I've also been looking at the armidas and also Helson.

  • Murtz if my current eBay auctions do not work out, we need to talk SKX007 mods.

  • Do it Zed. I have a Murts-mod which I love.

  • There is a guy that makes amazing PVD 007's. They look well nice innit.

  • ^Looks lovely

  • I want that done to my Pepsi, everything black!
