It's nice. Really, really comfy, much nicer to wear (for me) than the modern diver's reinterpretation.
Not entirely convinced about the gold second hand, kinda wish they'd gone for orange like the 147, but there we go.

...kind of... I was thinking about treating myself to something nice (Zenith or Breitling chronos or an OP) but somehow* ended up with another Seiko diver, a G-shock and a load of change in my pocket. Ho hum.
* probably because buying them was a case of clicky clicky then delivery, rather than pulling teeth, jump through hoops, chase wild geese

You should try to get something special, even if there are hoops. Its better to have one very special watch, than 3 Seiko G-Shocks.

Yeah you are right. I think the Explorer 36 would be a good one, but the stories of year long waiting lists for plebs like me who haven't spent £100k on jewellery (where do they get the money for this?! What mugs we all must be) is such a massive turn off. And Breitling won't return my emails about checking out the new duographs.
Sad. Face.

Definitely on the bigger side for me. Should be easy to size down though.

Really nice.. What's the history etc of VFA?
-
• #54692
@hurricane_run It stands for ‘Very Fine Adjusted’ and were the pinnacle of mechanical watches produced by GS +- 2s day, made for a couple of years before GS stopped in the mid 70s to concentrate on quartz.

Does that meet COSC standards? 😀

I was offered an Explorer at WoS bc there was no chance of a gmt master. There’s a list but not madness

Genuinely a special watch.
There was a Hoodwinkee article the other day - surely a paid GS puff piece but whatevs - noting that there's increasing recognition of the VFAs at auctions.

The Wako store in Ginza apparently has one of those on sale for $30k (minus the dial spots on @inchpincher's, but the case surely can't be any better).

PREMIER B09 CHRONOGRAPH 40
Stainless Steel - Pistachio GreenIn other news, I was offered 10% off the price I paid for the scuffed up B&R.
Nice, that model is great. No tacked on lume at 3, no rotated date, nice sharp hands, faceted crystal, v good strap. Two thumbs up from me.
