I think that damaged face is infinitely more beautiful than the original. Don’t touch it!

My guess is discoloured lacquer.

Not smart, but I got the Merkur copy of Tuna. It is actually not bad, although it does make me feel a tad dirty.

Watch musing of the day: I've found someone selling a Steinhart Ocean One 500 Titanium locally. I think I could get it for sub $650 (works out to about 380GBP). Has box and papers. Apparently hardly worn.
Thoughts from the forum/Steinhart owners?

I've had two Ocean Ones and you definitely won't feel short changed in terms of build quality or value for money. I'm not sure how I feel about the duller finish of titanium but it has some nice aesthetic differences from the others in the Ocean One range.
That's a good deal at that price if it is hardly worn.

It's not such a blatant Submariner copy as well, so it has that going for it. If that sort of thing resonates with you.

Have had mine for about 2 years now. Daily wear, still looks great, and as said elsewhere a little less of a homage watch.

Thanks @spunk_nautical & @JDB (do you have the Ti model or a regular Ocean One JDB?)
Anything I should look for or be aware of if I go to take a look at it? Is there much difference between the Soprad movement and the ETA movements that they have?

Good morning. Could anyone tell me why a 1973 Speedmaster costs £4450? It seems in really good condition perhaps because of this -
This model has recieved a full service, fitting a new crown and glass. It has had a replacement case including case back and the bracelet valeted. Image is of actual watch.Note, the spelling error above is not mine.

That Friday feeling! The Tin Tin is lovely.
My contribution tuis week is a different face although, again this week, it looks dirty in the pic.

That does seem a lot for that, particularly as it's a Bitsa.

I have 3 I think... And they're brilliant. Currently wearing my Pepsi dial. Build quality is unbelievable. When held next to a rolex that's 20x the price you realise how good it really is. Well worth it.

Just bought an HMT based on the photo you shared. Looking forward to seeing how it looks on my dainty wrist! For £9 I'm not going to cry about it!

Thanks. I appreciate your knowledge. I did wonder obviously.

My Dad passed away earlier this year and this was his everyday watch. It's nothing special but it means a lot to me and I like to wear it regularly. The only issue is that it's a little bit tatty as the pictures show and sometimes I wonder if it looks a bit shabby at work. Should I:
a) not give a toss and carry on wearing it?
b) replace the strap? If I was to reaplace it, I'd quite like something along these lines but I'm unsure if it would be compatible.Any guidance?

Picked this up spontaneously last night. I was in Macy’s with the intention of buying Christmas decorations and there was 25% off all non-luxury watches. Not too bad for $375 from an AD, in my opinion. Up until now I’ve only seen them at full RRP on Hodinkee. The hand wound ETA 2801-2 is really smooth to wind and it is much thinner than my Seiko Turtle. The lungs don’t actually hang over my wrist in real life.

Thanks for the advice. I was concerned that my options for a strap may be limited because of the shape where the bracelet joins the watch...one option is to go for the legit Citizen bracelet like you say.

If you do want a like for like replacement, it might be worth giving Alsal a go. They're a Citizen AD and have access to spare parts. The thing about Alsal is that they are usually very cheap for this sort of thing
thanks guys. will take some better photos when it gets here and take it from there.
