  • I think they're really model specific, I had to order mine from USA and they fitted straight on. No trimming required.

  • @root I got my adapter from here
    Fits my DW003.

  • That's the one I ordered. I can't get it to fit though I'll try hacking one and then order another if if looks shit. I've got a GW-M5610-1ER, which I think should fit.

  • hmmm nice look considering its a "Hybrid Smartwatch" - Titanium Hagen ....

  • How does the date work? Do the numbers rotate or something?

  • yeah i think the buttons on the side do variety of functions and move the hands around to the date, dual time and you can use the app to customise them too

the letters are a bit like "make my mum's text letter 'a', wife 'b' etc etc" and the numbers in the smaller dial are some sort of step count....

  • Yeah that’s worth a look at. Still hankering for a smart watch for work after my pebble died ages ago.

  • Have started craving an Oris Diver 65 40mm on a bracelet. Love the dial.

Any views on the merits of the 40mm vs the 42. Anyone had both ?

  • Fwaaaarrrrr lucky. Been watching them on the auction site, even forrin listings go for sillier money than I wanna pay.

    Also, G Shock...

  • I've not had both, but I have tried both on. There are two designs, first of all. I personally prefer the original design e.g. the repro of the 60s Oris.

If you're talking about this one:

then the only difference is case size. The 40mm is nicer to me. The size fits the faux vintage aesthetic better IMO. Same movement, same everything else. Try 'em on and see what you prefer. If you're in London, Watches of Switzerland on Regent Street have both.

  • Thanks.

Yes , it’s the top 40mm one that i prefer the look of.
    How did the bracelet feel?
    Is it noticeably smaller/lighter than a 5513 ?

Guess i’ll go and try one on.

  • Only Sub I can compare it to is a 16610 and the 40mm is smaller, yes. But not noticeably. Think you need to get to 38mm territory before it feels 'noticeably' smaller. Bracelet is nice, but the tropical rubber strap they come with is even nicer. Comfiest strap ever.

  • This vid does a pretty good job of showing.

One thing that didn't occur to me it that to use a smart watch you need to always have Bluetooth on your phone. I'm still not sure I fully understand the point of them for men.

  • I am not meaning to sound easily offended, I don't care, but why does gender matter here? Footnote - I've not watched the video. I don't see the point of halfway house smart watches. Either get an Android Wear or Apple Watch. No point in anything else IMO.

  • I have an Apple Watch Series 3 - without cellular. It is great. Top tip - don’t drop it on a tiled floor.

  • I assumed that it was a typo.

  • I assume it's because men more often keep a phone in their pockets as opposed to a bag so are less likely to miss a call/notification.

    I quite like this one:

I find they're useful in the pub or whatever when you're organising stuff and it avoids you missing calls/texts.

  • I hated my Apple Watch. I found it so distracting and annoying and just ended up using it as a watch only, so I ended up selling it and buying... a watch. No regrets either! Time, date, day, bezel to time dinner. What more could you want? :-)

  • How long ago was that? As in, was it before the watch os upgrades?

  • hmmm yes so with bluetooth always on, your phone battery sucks and also the watch battery too...

i like the designs of the watches though, they also do , non smart watches that are nice and good value....

  • Bluetooth battery use is pretty negligible nowadays with the low energy stuff. Turning your screen on a couple of times to check for notifications will use up more power. Those Skagen ones last for about 8 months on a normal button cell.

  • I don't really get why you'd have a smartwatch for anything other than sport - I had notifications on my Garmin and made it unwearable.

  • I just turn off notifications on my Garmin. Kind of makes your point though.

  • Seiko Pepsi 7002 - £140 (will come on blue and red nato)

Murts 21mm strap w/curved spring bars - £70 (brand new unworn, pretty sure this is what I paid)

Will do them both for £200

    Will add others this eve

  • Yeah - when I’m running/cycling I like to know if I’m getting a call/txt/calendar notification but at all other times I really don’t.
