removed it already and waiting for the rubber one. thinking of "customizing" (i.e chopping) a canvas one to fit the lugs.

Re. The Apple Watch and I presume similar devices.
I think it is useful for a number of reasons -
Ability to step count
Heart rate monitor
The ‘rings’ - which encourage exercise etc
The ability to check messages quickly and easily - so you can judge when to reply
It tells the time
Remote control of the phone camera
Remote control of music from the phone
Numerous other talents which I have yet to discoverThe downside - they do not look good - no matter what ‘face’ you select - they do not look good.
For functionality and usefulness they are great (well my Apple Watch is).
I have a few other non-smart watches and, in my opinion, the majority of them look much better. And I’m still hankering for a Speedy.

I've never seen a girl/someone self-identitying as a girl carry a phone in their pocket and most have it in their bag. That it the only useful reason I can really see for a smart watch.
And no offense to @TGR but when I see lists of features like that, it just makes me think of a 9yo kid explaining why their Casio with all the time zones and xM of depth rating is so useful. It's basically a product to solve a set of issues that probably wouldn't even make a 1st World Problem meme.

The Tag smart watches are really impressive to use. By far the best smart watches out there, if you ignore the price. I think they look pretty good too.
If I didn't love my Fenix 5 so much I'd have one.

Interesting outlook. I see most women with phones in hand or in back pockets as they, generally, don’t fit in women’s ridiculously small front pockets. I think the Apple Watch is a great smart watch if you want a smart watch. I’d argue that it doesn’t look good, as an object.
Charging another device is annoying, mind you. -

No offence taken, I find it is useful, but not nice to look at. I do a bit of walking and a lot of the functions mentioned are useful. At £350 it is not cheap but if you can buy it abroad there are significant savings.
You make a fair point re. First World Problem but this thread really is all about those!

Funny all this G-Shock love. I ordered one last week for $47 on some Amazon sale. Has those metal bumpers across the face. Can't wait to get in the post.

Still on my quartz-quest, you’ll all be delighted to hear. Does anyone know the name of the microbrand that does a selection of quartz and auto watches, styled after vintage watches from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s? There’s a dress watch, an internal-bezel diver, a chronograph. Brand name is the designers name. Been featured a few times on the watch blogs.
Edit: it’s Dan Henry.

The top 40mm one you linked a photo to is actually a ‘topper ’ ltd edition wtf that is.
I’ll get the standard re-issue.
Top feedback & colour.
Thanks

I linked a bad image. The Sixty Five with Roman Numerals in the first version does have a non-date, orange lume pip 'Topper Jewellers' ltd edition. There's also a standard date version that is not limited.

Have you looked at Stratton?
They sound similar to that also. -

I can't remember what your criteria are but I hear that this new Quartz Precista is fantastic. Bit steep at £245 but it is COSC Chronometer certified and really rather lovely looking.

I have a PRS-18Q as a beater, and I love it; I think it was about £185 when I got it, which is stonking VFM. I'd say it's definitely worth £245, especially if COSC is your thing (and it looks like the standard quartz may not be coming back, at least for a while).

It doesn't seem to do much smart stuff other than step counting which seems a bit pointless nowadays as most phones have that built in. Doesn't seem to do notifications of any type.
I actually preferred the rubber too. But it worked out the same price to order the cloth one and buy a casio replacement strap as well as just buying it on the rubber.
However I got stuck trying to change it so it's still on the cloth.
Did the job though survived the mosh pit at Queens of the Stone Age on Saturday.
