can put the box of stuff on the corner of the kitchen table
I’ve not seen @stonehedge ‘s equipment laid out but doubt it could fit on the corner of a table. Fair warning brother.

Depends on how big your table is!
Joking aside, the best thing about watch tools is that they tend to be small.

Any thoughts on Cartier Santos? Just been trying one on, quite like the look and the feel of it but don’t know anyone who’s ever owned a Cartier watch

you going for quartz or automatic?
-
• #27107
Remember to buy shorts that are at least one size too small...
Got that already...

We need to do this watch servicing 101 meet up!

Also you can get a loupe attachment, it's a wire that sits around the circumference of your head, they are very popular, I seem to be the only watchmaker not using one these days.
-
• #27110
If I do get one it’d be the automatic

Welcome brother!

You haven’t got the lathe yet then...! I picked up a copy of George Daniels Watchmaking just because it came up crazy cheap on eBay (and I’d heard it was a bible) and his workshop is fucking nuts, bigger than mine was when I worked on motorbikes.

Daniels wasn't exactly a run of the mill watchmaker though, was he? Bit like saying Antonio Stradivari had a fair bit of violin-making kit knocking around...
-
• #27114
Nah, common misconception. He bought from Yamaha and modded.
-
• #27115
I stand corrected...
-
• #27116
Haha. Yeah, Daniels, AKA SeikoBoy.

Um. No, but it’s a personal thing, I think. Technically, it’s fantastic. Build quality and finish up there with Rolex, (although bits like the clasp aren’t up to the same spec and the steel is just 316L), movement is very impressive - highly specified, accurate and has a large power reserve. I just never bonded with the thing, it leaves me a bit cold. I wear it now and then, but not enough to justify keeping it.

I was reading through this and saw the same issues with photobucket photos that we have. There is an extension for the Chrome browser to download photobucket photos, your entire bucket and each individual folder. The cost is $1.99 for unlimited use. I downloaded over 2000 of my photos in short order.
You can get Chrome here:

Someone said a few pages ago that if they wanted a watch Like the north flag they'd get a Sinn. I tend to agree.
I tried a north flag on and liked it but I think the all squared sharp look just is a bit to much or like a cheap watch trying to look expensive. Like tw steel or something.

Do love that Flieger.

Actually, that reminds me. How spendy are the solid medallion/hippocampus backs for Speedmasters? My dad's has the display caseback but he's thinking about trying to get a solid caseback for it too.

It's not as big as it looks in the photo. Wears small on my tiny wrist for a 44mm case, too. Very happy either way. Don't think I am sure I like wearing a bracelet though, just generally. NATO on the way...

I look at it the other way round, I like Sinn therefore I'd like to buy a North Flag, £1.5-2k doesn't get you much Sinn these days. You've reminded me to drop in to Page & Cooper for a shufty though, they're on my commute and I was really impressed with a Squale my brother bought from them.
@radar I'm genuinely interested if you ever consider moving the Tudor on.

More than I paid but still cheaper than other UK places https://www.lowryjewellers.com/watches-c1/seiko-mens-padi-divers-watch-srpa21k1-p7933
This is the cheapest though https://www.chrono24.co.uk/seiko/herrenuhr-prospex-automatik-divers-special-edition-srpa21k1--id6777399.htm
Welcome to middle age.
@radar I saw you bought a North Flag a while back, still happy with it?
