Some BIN listings are a real piss take.
This is a rare watch. Only a handful are known in working order. I know this exact example, it was bought privately for £600 last year. £2,600?!

Thanks that's nice. I'm tending to stay away from the date dials but I think that she'd like that hue of dial. It would also lend itself to a brown leather strap which whatever I buy will end up with.
@Stonehedge - it does have an offer category. Maybe go in at £601? ;)

That's beautiful.
You'll wear it one day.

So dug out a Seiko 6105-8000 from 1969. It has never been serviced, worth for 20 years then in a drawer for 20 years. Amazingly it runs fine. Unsurprisingly it needs restoration
No clue how much it will cost. Gotta email some people. Oh and need a new band for it

Massively jealous. Let me know if you want to sell.

Will see. I'm having the debate of restoration or keep it like it is.
It's 100% original... which is since it's never been serviced. -

Haha. Something like that.
My old grandmother actually told me that the owner (she didn't remember who) wore the watch to a war (one of the WWs obvs) and that it prevented him from getting shot. Allegedly...
There's a small crease in the case back, but I can't see how it could stem from a bullet... -

That tissot from earlier has been reduced.

I dont know how this will go down here but its British made and the guy who makes them has been ahead of the times with the microbrands. He has a good blog about his journey with watches and looks like he knows his stuff. Great looking watch for the money too and great spec.

Or you could just buy a Seiko...

@kirth this guy just did an old watch for me, an old seiko diver also which hadn't been serviced for circa 20 years. Not sure he does restos but very good servicing etc.

I'm sure he'll know people who can do dials and hands etc.
Good luck, lovely watch. -

thanks! I'm still not sure I'll restore it. It's running perfectly fine it seems. Amazingly enough
-
• #18267
If it runs OK I'd just put a bracelet/strap on it. Looks good like that to me.

Or you could just buy a Seiko...>
They do look very similar as well as using their movements.
I'm total contravention of my plan of thoroughly questioning sellers. I went ahead and won that GP @aggi mentioned.
Now in the cold light of day I'm looking at the rotor pictures and wondering if its cracked and whether the bolt(?) fixing it is a bodge.

Looks well travelled

Improvement on the Seiko on several fronts, especially the sapphire crystal and 316l band. I have the seiko as a beater but the plastic gets scuffed very easily. Should take all the usual SK007 custom items too. To me the SK looks cheap and bulky irl, if this is going to look like a luxury watch I might take a punt.

3 out of the 4 Russian watches I have are refusing to cooperate. Those three all have the same problem, the entire inside of the watch is moving around. If you move your wrist around you can hear the mechanism move around on the inside of the watch. I've opened all of them and checked for things that could be wrong but I see no system in place that should keep the entire mechanism stable. 1 of them now went to a full stop. It won't do anything anymore. I should find a cheap watch maker.

Are they definitely the correct movements for the watch?
If that is the only issue, you might be able to bodge something. I picked up a franken sieko once that actually had paper to pad out the gap in between case and movement!

It looks like the correct movements. They all worked fine for a while but now they start moving around in there. This one has the least amount of play (only one I got at work):

Sorry for the VVS video, noticed it too late.

Might this be the issue?
Cheers. Thats much appreciated.
@drøn - wear it with a 3 peice and a jaunty air.
Seriously though, I have a similar thing - a pocket watch I love to look at that was gifted by a close family friend who has now sadly passed away.
At some point I do plan on wearing it with a 3 peice (when I buy one that is). But I'm still trying to source a chain / strap that is subtle enough not to stand out like David Dickinson.
