  • My wrists are skinnyish but I reckon I could handle it...
    Measurements?

  • The face measures 45mm across, so its not obscenely large, plus its not very deep at all.

I did make an extra hole in the strap to get it to fit snugly. The strap is brand new by the looks of it.

Its a shame its too big for me, I really like it and the ticking noise is awesome.

  • Love it and have been umming and ahhing for the past half hour but having ended up, first drawing the size onto my wrist, then making a card replica I think I'd suffer the same fate! :(

  • 45mm!
thats the width of my wrist!
    (well the flat part anyways).
need to get more manly I think...

  • Ha! Yeh, I thought I could get away with it... Its just that little bit too big.

  • i was looking at watches recently and thought if i had unlimited money what would i buy ?

I know what it would be, a watch from these guys, which i think is spectacular.

    Greubel Forsey

    and another

    and another below.

talk about pushing the boat out. Whoa!

  • OK, that's watch porn if ever I saw it.

People's might want to keep an eye out for a few cheap Omega's going around this weekend btw....

  • Hideous! ^^

  • Yeh, its not quite to my taste either... Incredible mechanism though.

  • I prefer a watch I can tell the time on at a glance.
Too flashy, not functional, and therefore it is show-off bling tat.

  • I prefer watches that make lesser mortals with smaller wallets cower in it's presence.

Actually, I just like the idea of understated quality with a minimalist style. It's why Panerai make the watches I love the most... but there's always something about a tourbillon that makes the mechanism fetishist in me melt.

  • Really liking Mondaines at the mo....

  • It's lovely to see all that stuff.
That's why display backs are perfect. But if I have to hunt for the hands in order to find out what time it is then its failed in its primary function as a watch and therefore exists only to express its owners wealth and questionable taste.

  • Christopher Ward do some very nice aviators for not-bad money... Worth a look and they seem to have good rep.

  • This should appeal to VB & BQ.

    Stealth Wealth FTW.

  • It doesn't appeal to me. Basically I like Bach, and when I hear Bach I appreciate that not a thing could be removed from it. He's added so much, but not too much... it's both as simple and as complex as can be. When I look at a Panerai that's what I see... Bach in a watch, not a thing too much, not a thing too little... every single part having a very integral and precise purpose. I like both the elegant Panerais and the brutal functional Panerais, but always with nothing added beyond that which is necessary.

Now with the Lange & Sohne, what I see is a needlessly laid out dial. Why bother with the power reserve on the dial? Why does the second hand need to exist on it's own and reduce the size of the main dial? And so I'm immediately of the view that they added too much, and there is stuff yet which they could've removed.

That said, I love the cleanness of the casing. I'd have made the winder larger, but the case is very nice.

  • Form follows function. Diving/Pilot watches are more attractive to me than artisan, serif, roman numeraled, asymmetrical, diamond encrusted 'luxury' brands. Having said that I think a lot of modern 'function' watches have gone down this route, with OTT bezel/dial/strap design (Breitling/Jaeger leCoultre). Dare I say it, I think the World Wars and their aftermath produced the most beautiful time pieces and set the benchmark for simplicity and perfection. Every cloud?

  • A. Lange & Sohne remind me of werthers originals. Its that simple.

  • Have you seen what's written on the back of a packet of Werther's?

*Not suitable for small children. That's a complex old man giving his Grandson hard boiled sweets.

  • $115

    $145

    Seriously tempted by these!

Agreed - I do think that Breitling in particular have become cluttered. My preference is for pilot and diving watches also. My Omega Dynamic Chrono is based on a classic pilot watch from that era

  • Well, it arrived and I have to say that it just doesn't suit my skinny wrists... Serves me right for buying before trying.

It keeps good time and is in very, very good condition.

    Will take £30 for it...

Do you still have this? I usually have quite a penchant for massive brightly coloured plastic watches but for some reason I love this.

  • but then you wont have any red buttons to press
