not really a fan of the digital d/d, if you're doing mechanical, keep on doing it

coppi posted this a year ago already but didn't mention the price. I've just ordered two - gold and platinum his and hers.
This watch is absolutely stunning, an engineering masterpiece... 1,352 components working together in masterful horological precision, driven by a 450 link chain and nickel silver drums. If you can afford the $275,000 to afford the base model, you can probably afford the $400,00 to get it slathered in platinum and diamonds. -

i was lookng for a video of the cabestan to illustrate that it was not that ugly in real life, but found this instead. the reverse idea is interesting but laboured if you have to fiddle with the strap.

Markus Buhler, an apprentice watchmaker working for IWC back in 2003, designed and invented what is called the "turbine" movement during an apprenticeship competition where he took first prize at the Prix IFHH de I'Horlogerie. IWC, so impressed with the victorious and innovative movement that beat out 63 other competitors, decided to launch a model of its own honoring the triumph and incorporating the movement into a Special Edition Big Pilot Series of just 12 watches. Commonly known within IWC circles as the "Buhler project", Buhler along with other highly motivated apprentices worked tirelessly to perfect the movement and ensure all twelve of the watches had undergone the most stringent testing and quality controls standards - consistent with all IWC timepieces. In late 2008, IWC released the IWC Big Pilot Edition "Markus Buhler".
Yours for £25,000

Got to love IWC. It actually looks really nice - would be interesting to know how this functions differently to normal movements.

I'm only sober during 4am-5am ever third Tuesday morning of the months starting with M in the odd numbered years.

my cousin is over from oz and he's after an IWC Portuguese. where's best shop to get one? is it possible to haggle in shops like watches of Switzerland?
Nice choice.
Haggling for watches is expected.
Try Wempe on Bond Street as well as WoS if going for a new IWC.
he got his portuguese £400 off the retail price and got a bigger percentage VAT refund compared to other shops. RESULT!

just bought some old watches. the omega is dated 1935. don't know anything about the other two but i like the look of them , which is the main thing. skeleton is made by semag and the moonphase and day date watch is a rotary.

Lovin the Omega G
A bit of a wrist check post. Two of my Omegas are on the first page of the thread. Here are some others.
I have the old Geneve Dynamic.
At some point it had its second hand replaced with the wrong sort, which fell off. Should have a plain blue arrow. I'll be sending it to Swiss Time Services for that.
I also have this Speedsonic, which is a combination of my 3 favourites - the Speedmaster, the Seamaster and the F300Hz. Basically it's a Speedmaster with an electronic tuning fork movement (an improved version of that made for the Bulova Accutron) and a chronograph module. It needs a service and a new battery.
Not all my watches are expensive. This is an HMT Sona. HMT stands for Hindustan Machine Tools. It's about £8 from India, and uses a very basic licence-built Citizen 17 jewel movement famed for its reliability. A very elegant watch for no money.
Finally this arrived in the post today. I've wanted one of these since they came out, but was never prepared to buy a new one as frankly they are overpriced. And they say "TAG" on them. I specifically wanted the original limited edition reissue which only says "Heuer" The crystal needs a polish and the last service was 6 years ago, but it came with box and papers and I got it at a bargain price.
