  • Advice please.

I ordered a leather bracelet direct from Steinhart for my Ocean Black about a month ago. Not too expensive, only about £23 worth. Paid my money, got the standard 8-12 working days to despatch email. I Waited...
Then had an email saying it had been shipped (no tracking) on the 20th May. I Waited... Still waiting... It still has not arrived! I have tried contacting Steinhart but with no response/reply. Other than being rather miffed, what can I do about it?

Long shot but there have been 2/3 bank hols in europe this month and bridge days between. So it may well be that it is late because of that?
I would give it another week but also write them an email saying you're pretty dissappointed in the service.

  • The £65 (or whatever it was) IWC is back from a service. Photographed next door to my Longines 1956 6B/159 (re-cased WW2 movement by the MOD in '56).

  • Toilet?

  • Torlet, it's Australian...
    #lol

  • I know what you mean . Links have hardly any movement in them , and at least the end pieces don't rattle but there is some play . But like you said is 40 plus . I would probably put on a nice leather strap , not a hipster NATO !

This is probably blasphemous but if you buy a vintage Rolex with Bracelet stretch you can get some really good aftermarket bracelets specifically designed for Rolex. I couldn't find one for my Air king 5700 though.

But as you say...if in doubt, stick it on leather.

  • It is little by todays standards tho .....even on my girly wrist .

  • Looks good. Nice number 4.

  • also like this bulova but it doesn't compete with that ^^^^^^ IWC

  • ^ That Bulova was a bargain. The RAF issued ones like that one aren't so common. Very small though (I owned one).

  • That's very nice, anyone know what the red km markers are for?

  • I'm guessing it's a Speedtimer/Tachymeter

  • Yep, the markings are inversely proportional to those on the tachymeter, but I can't figure out what it'd be used for. Lovely looking thing though.

  • Just been trying to convince Jana that it is customary to give your husband a watch on your first anniversary.

It's a military thing. See an artilery piece in the distance, for example, and a big flash come from the thing. Start the chrono. When you hear the boom, stop the chrono. The red scale will tell you how far away said gun is.

Watch version of the "1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi" thing when observing lightning.

Edit: Google says it's a Telemeter Chronograph.

  • Want

  • like the starp...but the watch is rank IMO

    You mean it isn't?

    Homage to Blancpain 50 fathoms

  • Personally I'm not a fan of watches with numbered faces

  • What is this?

  • Just picked up a hi-beat 5740C from March 1969. These are going to go up in value. It's the precursor movement to the one that smashed all chrono records and got Seiko banned by the snotty Swiss back in the late 60s.

On an original solid link oyster bracelet and so far keeping excellent time (will test it over next 48 hours) face and hands / batons everything are in remarkable condition for a 45 year old watch.

  • I like that a lot.

  • me too. how much £$ if you don't mind me asking?

  • 50 dorra soon to be 250 dorra. Seriously I paid a smidge over 200 notes, I expect these (the 5740C not other 5740s) to rise considerably in value over the next couple of years. Why? Check their history.
