  • No duty on EU imports...

  • I bought my IWC from Italy. No problems, no import duty.

  • I stand corrected .

  • Thousand pound off is big saving . I take you paid duty when came into uk .......?

As part of the EU no duty is required. I checked it out before going ahead. I no stoopid ;)

Official line from the Gov Duty calculator is:

No import duty is due between two members of the EU Customs Union
No additional import VAT due between members of the EC Fiscal area

  • Is that the sound of ejay's commisssion I hear trickling away? ;)

  • ^ No, not that one. I spoke to the guy in France though, sounded decent but I went with another provider in the end.

    @J - you're a very naughty man :)

    Seriously though why so cheap?

I think it's a mixture of things. Exchange rate of the Pound against the Euro, plus contacts, plus fairy dust. But mainly contacts.

  • I stand corrected .

You got the orthopaedic shoes I sent you then?

  • nice

  • I love the Pelagos, but visually the date window ruins it for me.

The date should be white on black at 4 o clock position IMO.

I've tried one on and the quality is first rate

  • I quite like the Black Bay

  • £1k saving, you say? This changes everything...

    Apart from my bank balance...

Can't agree fella. In black out of white the date window makes the 3 marker identical in length to the 9 marker opposite. There is method in their madness :)

  • Van, that is gorge, well done!

  • I'm really chuffed. It's amazingly light to wear, chunky but being a big bloke it doesn't look ridiculous, the finish and attention to detail are remarkable.

Still hard to believe that by shopping around I was able to save 1k and for me this was the difference between getting the watch and not getting it.

Here are some pics as promised. From package to Pelagos:

    Oh its perfect <3

  • Very very nice! You must well chuffed.

  • Ver' nice Mr Uden

  • First day on the wrist. Surprisingly light yet delightfully chunky. It has presence but isn't a huge unwieldy lump.

Am currently timing it over 48 hours for accuracy. Have a 24 hour time result but am going to give it another 24 hours to see.

  • I've had the Ocean Black a couple or three weeks now. Initially it was around 10 seconds a day fast. It's settled down to around +4 secs a day now. Interesting how these movements settle down into their rhythm after a while.

I've been quoted a full service on my IWC Aquatimer for £415. They also quoted £230 for an optional change of sapphire crystal which I did not opt for as I couldn't see anything wrong with the original one. I think £415 ain't bad seeing as my old quartz Tag cost £450 for a full service, new bezel and glass. I'm very keen to get the IWC back. Definitely missing it. It needed a service though. There was a lot of debris build up on the inside of the crystal back and generally all over the movement I noticed on inspection (took a microscope to see it) Looking forward to inspecting how clean it comes back. I'll try to get some microscope shots up when I get it back if anyone's interested? Won't be for another five weeks or so though...

  • ^^Speaking of which, has everyone seen the Twixt app that lets to measure the accuracy of your watches? Looks interesting, but £3.

  • ^^ Is that at an IWC service centre?
