  • Ha. It's alright. I was well aware it was a budget timepiece when I bought it. It was intended to be. Clearly they keep costs down with sub standard crystals.

Edit: Actually I've been thinking how it might have got scratched. Likely cluprit is probably the wife's engagement ring that has diamonds around the full circumference. She did grab my arm when climbing up a Welsh mountain... In which case I'm impressed how tiny the scratches are! It's the only thing I can think of that would have done it.

  • i didnt think you could retro fit sapphire in a case designed for plexiglass , have always been told you couldn't .

Sly bitch in the Tag store has pulled my pants down then.

    Bleedin' cheek.

  • ^^ Previous comment retracted regarding sapphire quality.

  • I've been wearing my Tag every day for nearly 9 years and it has only recently picked up a single, tiny, 1mm long scratch near the edge of the glass. The rest of it looks like it's been in a war but the sapphire glass has held up really well.

  • I'm used to having my pant's pulled down and having my cheek slapped...but blood?!

    #doinitwrong

  • The plexiglass vs sapphire crystal thing is the only point putting me off a Max Bill at the moment.... What are the chances of getting a sapphire crystal replacement on the Junghans icon? Or should I not be concerned?

I just remember a few early watches in my history with plexiglass that got scratched to buggery in no time (I'm a pretty hands on guy - remember the shit I got in with the good lady when I had to get weld splatter removed from the 30th birthday Breitling she bought me)

Diamond is what will have done it , only diamond is harder .
And I did say sorry ........cant help myself sometimes .

  • Stoked. Have half a dozen cheap straps on the way to try out while I wait for a good deal on a proper Oyster.

Whilst not being quite flush enough for such a nice thing, I wouldn't mind a reasonable 'copy'. Are the Steinhart's not so great then?

  • They're great for the money, Rob... I've been tempted many times...

  • Steinhart are great. Despite what has happened to mine, it is a very very minor thing and understandable now I realise how it happened, I'm very pleased with mine. Many of my watch loving friends are also very impressed with it. It really is very good.

Not a piece of crap as ejay described ;)

My biggest watch regret is replacing my 17 year old SK kinetic with a new Seiko auto. Not even close, so I want to 'upgrade' without having to pimp Cliveo's bottom on the streets

Consider a Steinhart then. Sound for the money.

Seriously I said I was only joking . Far be it from me to pour scorn on another watch brand . Unless its something we dont sell . Or is Japanese . Particularly Grand Seiko........

  • I'd pull on the GMT ocean 1 but they're not in stock anywhere yet.
A lifelong Seiko fan, I think they've got it wrong with the latest batch of divers and they all look a bit off the mark.
The one watch they have out now I might consider is the sportura though, still made in Japan.

    **How very dare you! **

    ;)

  • After much frustrating research... For the amount of money I'd have to spend on a good Tudor Submariner (if I ever find one!) I may as well get a fucking Rolex Sub!!

    Bah!

  • ^ Go Pelagos young J, it is the only way forward for the true devotee...

  • I'm not that into them, lugs bother me... Thinking about the Black Bay with an after market black bezel... Not sure that's even possible...

    Dream is a 40mm 75190...

  • go the black bay, jose. i'm tempted, but then i'd have to stop playing the astronaut every day.

  • Deposit laid down tenderly for a Tudor Ranger. It's a long time to September.

  • How much are they on the bracelet, if you don't mind me asking?

  • 2K as near as makes no difference

  • hmmmm

Stumpy lugs are the way forward. If you have to tinker with a watch like a shiny new Tudor to get it right it's because it's not right.

    Seiko frankenfix this way >>>
