  • @ seth..is it gonna be this one then?

    http://www.bikehike.co.uk/mapview.php?id=10549

taking in vegan restaurant in grassington and Fanny's Ale House?...aces sounds like a lovely day out...

  • problies. There's no direct trains Victoria to Bradford Interchange that day apparently, so it'll be best to go to Leeds and then change onto a Shipley train and meet there - could have a snoop around ellis briggs if you wanted. There's a ton of room at my house for anyone who wants to stay the night.

  • can i stay the night?

  • Aaaargh! I just realised that beig the lazy bastard that I can sometimes be I forgot to sort my creaking bottom bracket out and it sounds too bad to risk over the hills so I may be out if I can't get it fixed tonight. Bugger!

  • You'll be alright Wayne, mine's got a little bit of play in it, but I'm not getting it sorted until my new bike is ready (about a month). Probably a bit annoying for you mind.

  • or tomorrow morning..we don't leave til noon, eh?

  • I'm in...... Wooh!

Ben said he was coming too. See you at the Unicorn peeps.

  • aces x

  • who's in for the Yorkshire Ride then?

I'm going the night before but there are plenty of trains in the morning to Shipley...and Seth said he can put people up if you want..aces...

  • I'm out unfortunately.

I've hopefully acquired a carbon compact chainset off this forum so I can maybe keep up with Seth on the hills!

    2. Ronnie (possibly)

All we need to do, to slow Seth down, is make sure he geta a puncture and not help him fix it.

    1. Nes
    2. Seth, obviously!
There's a train from piccadilly to leeds at 10.42, change at leeds and get the11.36 to shipley, should arrive at 12.07. The top two photos here http://cyclinginfo.co.uk/blog/cycling/cycling-yorkshire-dales/ are near where we'll be going - don't worry, we won't do fleet moss or park rash! We're planning an outdoor cinema showing of la course en tete, a film about a year in Eddie Merckx's life at my house that night, to try and tempt people over the pennines.
Thanks everyone for the other day, I absolutely loved it! That climb up and over into holmfirth has been going round and round in my head all weekend - so beautiful!
  • oops, excuse me ronnie,

Aye - when the weather's OK, it's absolutely stunning on that road. Actually it's not bad when the weather is shite. We should do it again, maybe in August and loop back round via Meltham, Marsden and Saddleworth. I'll not be staying over Seth as need to be back Saturday night.

  • above should read 11.56 to shipley, not 11.36. soz.

  • that picture is beautiful ronnie...i LOVED that road... i just got a new cassette 12 to 27 and also a 39 chainring..let's see if that helps..39/27 =1.7...if not i might have to shell out more and get a compact..

or just wait til the tandem comes from Newcastle and i sit on the back eating crisps pretending to pedal!!!

  • You'll need a new front mech if you go compact too.

Is it a tandem like this ??

  • you wouldn't get far on that..where is the sprocket? and the pedals??
    it's actually one of these

  • hopefully better gearing though...

  • i like the way the captain's looking all suave and the rear admiral's dying - something to do with the relative sizes of chain ring? So I'm going on the front yeah?

  • that was the bit of the picture that i thought looked like us..me dying and you looking like you could go on forever like merckx...p.s. don't call me rear admiral in public darling, people will get the right idea..

  • i like the new tag

  • Check out my seth beaters....... I reckon I can get up anything with these...... maybe!
