That Tour of the Peak, is it an A to B ride or a loop, I assume it's A to B to fit all those hills in.
-
• #203
hmm not sure, i thought it was a loop...it doesn't give hardly any info on route etc.
even when you sign up just this:
"Between 10 and 5 days before the event takes place you will receive an email with full joining instructions for the ride - where to be, when, signing-on process etc."
early this saturday oron 27th, or both? i think i'm gonna ride to leeds on saturday...the rochdale way over blackstone edge then up through Halifax..have you ridden the oldham way? what's it like?
-
• #204
Rarely venture up North, always seems a waste going all that way to get to Rochdale before the countryside starts. Only time I've been to Oldham is getting lost on my way to Saddleworth. Will hopefully do Holme Moss this saturday, dunno waht time I'll start though.

Non none at all if its the kilotogo ride. Absolutely none. http://www.kilotogo.com/index.php?option=vlly iew_route&distance_id=21&event_id=6
So no ride this week? I'll be at Chorlton Green if anyone fancies a quick (read fast) run around the Cheshire Lanes at noon. Dan Horn promised me a free vegan hotdog from the stall outside Unicorn on sat too, can't cancel on that arrangement.
have you ridden the oldham way?
Yes A64 to Marsden, but i turned off to Meltham to holmith where i hit a wall of road. The A64 is generally ok, A roads tend to have quite steady gradients. Still hilly though.

You fancy a longer run ? I can probably make noon if you want to do that Cat and Fiddle run you missed ?
-
• #207
Yep that would be cool, I'd be up for that. If you'd rather not repeat the route though then cheshire could be good.
-
• #208
Nah, need some hills, and a bit bored of Cheshire. Same route is fine by me, I never get tired of it. Do you know where Unicorn is ? Or shall I meet you at Chorlton Green.
-
• #209
I don't know where Chorlton Green is, and i passed Unicorn by mistake whilst trying to find it.
I'll deal with my outsider navigational shortcomings and meet you at Chorlton Green.

just noticed you wanted to do holme moss on sat?? I'll be up for that too as an option.
-
• #211
Ok then, could do Holme Moss, anyone else coming tha tyou know of, and if not is it possible you could get over a bit earlier ? Not a big deal if you can't mind.
-
• #212
That's fine. 10am??
I know of no others......
-
• #213
Cool, I'll meet you off your train if you want (Oxford Rd), show you the way to Chorlton, vegan hotdogs and we'll set off.
-
• #214
Thanks for the offer Ronnie, but I'm planning on riding over, as i did last time ;)

I thought the 64miles looked tough but that 96miler - jeez. We'll have to have a go at at the 64km starting at say Macc sometime in July I reckon.....
-
• #220
it is 64 miles not km though innit?
yes it looks hard and i shall complain but:
"To be a cyclist is to be a student of pain....at cycling's core lies pain, hard and bitter as the pit inside a juicy peach. It doesn't matter if you're sprinting for an Olympic medal, a town sign, a trailhead, or the rest stop with the homemade brownies. If you never confront pain, you're missing the essence of the sport. Without pain, there's no adversity. Without adversity, no challenge. Without challenge, no improvement. No improvement, no sense of accomplishment and no deep-down joy. Might as well be playing Tiddly-Winks." Scott Martin
hmmm. it appears to have winnats pass in the small one which seems a bit unfair i think..poor nes..you gonna do it ronnie? which one?

I'm just thinking about it at the moment. We could recce the 64 miler and turn it into a century by riding to Macc and starting the ride from there. If I put myself down for the October ride, I'd apply for the 96 and see how I felt at the top of Winnats, which is the point where the rides split.
I'll leave applying for a bit I think
-
• #222
i was worried they would close, does it say how many entrants they'll accept?
the polka one closed pretty early. Seth is gonna do the 96 and gonna register today i think to be sure he gets in.yeah we could do that, maybe July.

anyone doing any of these?
-
• #224
It closing would make the decision for me. If it's still open Monday I'll apply. Never heard of this ride before, but people come from all over the country for the Polka Dot Challenge, which gets booked up really quickly.
