Timouss, have a check with the ladies bikes thread, ignore murtle, foffa isn't for you.
There's a ladies forum, just head back to the forum home page and click through from there.
There's also an OTP (off the peg) thread which will have info on the pista via brera.
best thing is to work out the size of frame you need, usually for girls thats a smaller one, anywhere from 46cm upto 54cm though don't take my word for it, read the ladies thread lots of good advice there, also ping a private message to nhattattack or clefty and they will help you out.. -

Probably best if some of the girls on here take you under their wing and give you some guidance
This^
You want a bike that fits well above all else. Typically women have longer legs for their height then men. This affects bike fit. See what the ladies recommend.

The bianchi is a tad over priced as it is partially priced by looks. But at the reduced price at Evans looks a decent OTP, and a fun bike.

Build one. someone on here will probably help you.....
-
• #156
I would recommand to build one with help from someone more experienced. Just don't ask him to build it for you, assist him in doing so. You will learn a lot and you will be able to fix it yourself in the future.
The only tricky parts in a fixed gear bicycle is the headset, everything else is straightforward. Well it's not that tricky but your life depends on it so I wouldn't tell a newcommer to install his first headset without assistance.

My ergonomics tutor says that men and women have proportionally equal legs as measured from the hip joint, just that women's legs are perceived to be longer due to their hips and buttocks having their widest diameter higher up than in men.
That said, she did work on the BMW Mini and that's got notoriously bad ergonomics, so she could be wrong.

Whether or not you are new, it's no excuse starting a new thread that's all about you - it's going to ellicit 'use the search' responses. Deal with it.
Where's that Mergemeister when you need him? Probably busy with a pie somewhere.

Oh, and welcome, Timouss. Good luck.

There are ways and there are ways of saying it though. I think UTFS has had its day.
(vee vee is holding a gun to my head, please get help) -

"all about you" threads keep things interesting around here though.
some also give our pie-loving-midget-tossing mod something to do...

When did the "midget tossing" thing start?
Back in the day he used to just fuck them.

It was a massively sweeping statement by me. But the idea was correct. Chat with the other female fixie skidders, and find out what they're riding.

My mistake Skully, sorry...

I'm also on the hunt for a new bike for my girlfriend. I originally got her a Pashley Poppy (as discussed earlier on) however as also mentioned she finds it too heavy and cumbersome for daily usage and long distances.
If anyone can recommend some complete bikes which are still step-through but are 'sportier' (weigh less, have a larger gear range etc) and retain a semblance of good looks I would be in your debt. The Kona Africa looks nice but is it a heavy bugger?
-
• #174
Electra Ticino from the top of my head if she want a bike a bit sportier than the Pashley.
Rode the Ticino from the LBS, it's a pretty nippy bike, alu frame keep weight down too, it's as comfty as a dutch bike without the weight penalty;
They have singlespeed option as well and a step-thru frame option.

Nice one thanks, they look ideal. If I can pick up a cheap one, result!
