Have you got a link for that - I couldn't find anything obvious on Bikely? Cheers.

Would also be interested in this if someone has the link?
Rode up Gipsy Hill today on 74.7 GI, never really done hills before (even when geared), now I'm addicted!

is it chalkpit Hill... 'the worst hill in surrey?'
did that the other night. or rather, walked that the other night.
DEFEATED.
hit the hairpin and the pedals simply said 'NO, m'lady, simply not' and I unclipped with haste to avoid toppling over in a sweaty mess in front of the passing vehicles.
oh, the shame!
any others like this that I am more likely to get up in one go next time?I am determined to do it again and not fail it, but given that it's the first real hill I've really had to climb for about 4 months..... :/

Worse than leith hill or white down?

that area needs to be visited, not least because there is a business called 'powergirls ltd' but also the mystical estate which goes by the name of.. PKWY.

can't be that because it's not steep at all.
(i use that road when riding to wescott on my mtb) -

There is (was) a late season hill climb event on White Lane next to Titsey Hill... can't remember the organising club.
I think the "officially" steepest hill (though not the highest) in Surrey is Succumbs Hill, the climb from the A22 Caterham rdb near Anne Summers HQ up to Warlingham. 1:3 and 3/4's on the left hand bend... notice the double arrowhead on the OS map.

I am just asking because I have just done those, and apart from the road up to Beachy Head in Eastbourne and the hill in the next village towards Brighton, they're the only reference I have for a pretty steep and long-ish climb ...
Anyway, as this got linked in the tnrc nursery, maybe it's worth mentioning here: Tips for Climbing

Went out yesterday and found a few new hills to me, not exactly sure which road it was on but between Cudham and Downe. Out of Cudham left down some mega hill marked 25% then back up another I think it was Hang Grove Hill looking at the map. Neither were very long but both pretty steep. Glad I was going down and up the 25% though. Anyone manged to get up the 25% one into Cudham fixed?
It's not too bad fixed, as it's very short, and you can ramp up your speed a bit on the draggy approach.
It's more fun to ride down for that rollercoaster feeling as you turn off the Cudham road :O
you crazies.
I went down brasted thinking I really wouldn't want to go up it. And I never made it up the 25% bit of cudham...

Hi all, only just joined the forum. I've had an OTP Langster for about a month now (ride to work scheme, sweet) and I'm curious about setting it up fixed... but my only issue is this- I commute from Blackheath to London Bridge daily (piece of cake) and I want to know what the deal is with riding downhill (specifically, the one in Greenwich Park) fixed. Is it just a mad blur of spinning legs? Or do you just have to take it slower? Total noob question, I know, but I've never even touched let alone ridden a fixie.
-
• #196
just run two brakes on it?
-
• #197
specifically, the one in Greenwich Park
Youll be fine going down that.
-
• #198
If you're not happy keeping the bike in check with just your legs then simply feather the brake(s). I assume you're free wheeling down it at the moment so yes, you will need to take it slower to stay in control of both the bike and your legs :)

Cheers guys. I guess there's no excuse for me not to at least give fixed a go now. If I smash my face in coming down the hill though it's on you. Defintely not my fault.

just don't forget to pedal.
http://www.lfgss.com/thread166.html#post1161524
before going fixed sometimes people recommend keeping on singlespeed for awhile but just keep peddling, as if you are on fixed...
The crib sheet looks pretty good. I always just use google amps directions but these fall short when you come to a junction with no road name or sign post.
Have you entered?
