Thoroughly enjoyable ride. Definitely one of my faves this summer. Thanks to Tim for getting such a lovely ride together, Scarlett for keeping us at the back with the bunch (and his stories of the North Downs) and Jonny for hanging back whilst I retreived my beers.
So what was our average speed? Was it above or below the advertised 17mph? :P
Love it.

Sounds an awesome ride. Big respect to Martin for finding you lot out there in the dark.
Jonny, I'm available on both dates. Funny really, I was hoping to get another Kent ride in before the end of the season, as I'm pondering doing it on my Brompton, for a laugh like. If that were the case, the first route would probably be the one for me, not too hilly (except for Exedown), and as you and Tim know the route I would make sure you wouldn't wait for me should I momentarially become detached from the rear (!).
But it's not my decision, I'll let you decide.
Kent 1 gets my vote.

Love it.
A steroid induced, muscle ripping, vein popping** 17 mph**.

Near dream-like lanes, cutting through some truly stinky countryside, a harvest moon, northern light-esque cloud formations, plenty of weird and wonderful sounds from the hedgerows, and a truly lovely pack of riders.
Bliss.
Good to see Jung, along with my two mates, savouring a bit of TNRC-ness. Brodie reckoned it was his best ride in the UK, and Dean, on that beautiful Bates, will no doubt be back.
Nice one Tim. A worthy addition to the route bible.
BMMF - I never can say goodbye...but i'm more than happy to stiff you at the ticket office. It's been real.Until nxt time.
@Mashton - I can't believe you even considered coming along without the babies. Fucking wine gums!

It was an excellent night for a ride and an excellent ride for the night. Thanks to everyone.
Here, for what it's worth, and if it works as it should, is my GPS track of the ride:
Of course the GPS will never tells the full tale, never shows what it's like rolling along with an orange moon rising on one side and the late glow from the recently set sun on the other.

^Nice one dude.
How come I cannot seem to get that bike route map website that Tim/Sam use to work? The HTML is all fucked up and in Times New Roman...?!

Zed, try Shift-Reload or Ctrl-Reload to completely reload the page.

We actually went off-route at Willingale--not that it matters much, but the planned route involved turning right out of The Street, not left. Both lanes are lovely and there isn't much difference, really. I think the way via Fyfield Road and Norton Lane is shorter, as the Spains Hall Road/Norton Heath Road/Willingale Road route is so twisty.

That site is very hit and miss
VedZed.Saying that, when it's 'miss' it's still a thousand times better than Bikely or that fucking Gmap Pedometer shit.

Another great night with the TNRC. I want more.
Looking at the GPS of the route brought back all my favorite memories. I'm not sure where my brain finally turned off and my legs took over but I think it was around High Easter. It seemed like only minutes later I was racing over the bridge towards the station.
Thanks to everyone for the organizing, encouragement and advice. I'd also like to thank Wools for buying my beer when the folks at Whistle Stop refused to sell to me without valid ID. Oh the shame.
Note, my only wildlife spot of the night was a dead rat on the side of the road. Apparently I'm not doing something right.

Was I the only one that saw the bloody great owl that flew over our heads a bit after the first puncture stop?
-
• #3064

-
• #3065

Blimey! Did you have both punctures? That's bad luck.
-
• #3070
well, i managed to go through two inner tubes in one puncture stop. the second stop was due puncture of a different rider which was fixed in no time as we listened to the beauty of life affirming moments™

wtf Gav...that "card" is my tyre boot dude. its helped many TRNC riders get home. well two of so far...
*cough * want it back cough
Many thanks to Jonny and Tim and all the TNRC regulars for a great route and making us so welcome.
I was about a millimetre away from cycling up to green lanes for a post match kebab on the way home.
