Bravo for James' & Jonny's resolutive skills and knowledge.
Last night it became clear that TNRB is led by well-trained cyclists.
I did enjoyed the ride, complications included. (oh...Tika & Balmain, hope you are ok!)
As my previous Executive Producer used to say: there are no problems just solutions.
Thank you all guys.

Well...
I guess all in all, and from what people have posted, it was another good ride.Pity it felt, well to me anyway, that we were chasing our tails abit right from the off.
The trains are to blame for this, but there were several other situations that could have been avoided, that contributed to this aswell.Even though we all made it to the station in time, I can't but help feel partly responsible for the accident that happened.
I guess I should have stopped at the R_A_B before burning up the hill.
I thought I'd been clear, but I guess in the heat of the charge, it's easy to miss turns.
Best laid plans n all...Still, I'm glad so many people came and experienced the Chilterns, and despite the fuck ups, seemed to enjoy it. ADT, Ma3k etc. It's not always quite so frenetic.
I really hope Tika and Des are ok.
For all those doing Dunwich, have a great time,
and see you all again on the next TNRC. -

just to echo what shoots said really.
was great to see so a lot of TNRC debuts last night (ADT, ma3k, chebeef, and to take mikec down memory lane) but it was a little shambolic compared to the normal tight group we try to keep for the TNRC.
a few people were perhaps a little ill-prepared both equipment wise and for the pace. good work marco on the help with dropouts highly unlikely snakebite scenario.
but pleased so many enjoyed it and no real harm done (balmain and tika good to see you have posted you are alright).
the Chilterns route is a beauty but does throw up a bit of a logistical challenge. we were hitting the blacktop last night (the second group that is) about a good hour or more after when other TNRC's normally kick off. before we do the Chilterns again we will have a rug rethink back at TNRC HQ and might even have to cap the number of riders.
anyway, good to see you all out there and see a good number of you on Saturday for the DD.
and a big up to shoots for keeping the thing moving and getting us to the tube on time. much appreciated dude.

Cheers all for another great night out in the sticks. A lot of fun despite the set backs.
James - you shouldn't feel responsible, dude. You were plenty clear with directions. Like you said - peeps just got caught in the charge. I, for one, was guilty of that. I really ought to familiarise myself with the route more before setting off. Trouble is when it's dark, your eyes are constantly scanning the roads for pot holes and you're going at a fair clip it's easy to lose track of where you are and all you can do is follow the person in front.
We need Hope to supply marshals and signage for route directions...

What happened with the trains then? Chilterns trains out were a bit tricky last time going out...
I remember lots of angry commuters being frustrated with all the bikes in the carriages.
-
• #1807
^ There were 17-18 bikes trying to get on a 2 (!) carriage commuter train and the guard stopped last 5-6 getting on so they had to get next train.
Me and Chebeef had one door area to ourselves meaning there must have been 10-11 shared between the other three :(

Should've ridden out ya bunch of bludgers...
thinks back to last night's drunken tear-arse ride across the city to get to another pub :)

James, absolutely no need for you to feel in any way responsible; paceline, pothole, bad luck - could have happened anywhere/anytime. A bit of road rash makes a nice gnarly memento and the bump on the head won't be mentioned on the domestic front for fear of the dreaded helmet debate.
I'd realised that we were off route just after the roundabout, but wasn't close enough to the front to make a call. I thought you held it together well given the delays, but once we had lost that time on the trains it was always going to be a bit frantic.

Gosh!! and i was narrowing my allergy down to a suspected batch of grapes unwashed and covered in pesticide.
The TNRC is definatly led by experienced and well seasoned cyclists able to adapt A-team style to any eventuality, but we must all be on the ball or we are going to get into way deeper water than last night. Shoots and Jonny obviously pulled the rabbit out of the hat and Tika and Balmain live to ride again (glad you guys are alright) . Let's remember that the TNRC ain't no piss about but a serious ride that requires adherence to the 7 p's (proper preparation and planning prevents piss poor performance) it just so happens that those who have ridden the TNRC into folk lore have made these rides good fun.
stay safe peeps and keep your eyes peeled for another ride in two weeks........ Kent side (you hearing me boys?) -

Was good. Sorry to all for not being a very chatty cyclist. . And i've figured out why i ended up on my own time trial to the tube along dual carriageways. It involves not utfmap when i lost lights ahead and behind. .
