Anyone race last weekend?

Mrs S did the High Wycombe 10, and the ac3rg 25 - both very windy slow events. She won the 10 in 24, and came second in the 25 with 1.00.

We've swapped the bars out on Mrs S's bike to a set of Ventus. The Walser's were just too low. First race in the new set-up and she did a short 59, wining the ladies field in the Addiscombe 25 by 3 mins. I'm sure she has it in her to do a 55 if she gets a float day.
This season's tt debut for me comes next weekend with the Beacon Roads mini-mountain (39 mile hilly). She is starting 20 mins behind me. Will be nip and tuck as to whether I can stop her catching me. My excuse will obviously be the fact that I'm on my road bike ;-0

Finally got me an S80. Took it for a spin around the Hillingdon circuit today.. windy and raining = perfect weather for testing a big fuck off deep section wheel :)

And you conclusion is (I'm assuming that's your turbo rear wheel)??
-
• #986
Just got the start sheet for the KCA 10 next Sunday.. As of 1st of May turbo trainers and rollers are banned (risk of DQ) for all morning events in Kent. WTF!
-
• #987
It's too much grief riding out/getting the train with rollers/turbo strapped to your back anyway.
-
• #988
I dunno, they're getting lighter all the time, brilliant for when you wanna warm down quickly

No, it's my Powertap. I use it on the TT bike and road bike.

Anyone not riding to and from their events is a pussy and should be penalised 5min anyway. :)

Fuck me.. Riding out and back to my tt's would take longer than the event themselves./ Most are a 1-30 to 2 hour drive..
So you have a deep beauty on the front... But no disc?
-
• #992
I do own a HED disc rear but I don't use it - no Powertap.
I guess I could throw it on for photo shoots :)
1.5-2hr drive in London could be City to Ealing :P

Q25/12 hariestsham. Ashford.. I'd be dead knackered by the time I'd got to the course. Then too tired to ride home after..

Yeah, 85k from my place that is. I'd probably give that a miss.

try this
-
• #996
Nice. And you look like you know what you're doing.. slippery boots and funny hat.. :)
Not sure about your tyre choice though.
-
• #997
Conti tris? Good tyre.. a 25 PB of 55 mins. The pic was my clubs "hilly" 22 in 09 (sub hour). Don't know what I'm doing really. I'm sure if I did I would not do it because it always seems to hurt. All the gear etc. etc....
-
• #998
I've got a lot of the gear and no idea. I've done better on my road bike. :(
-
• #999
Maybe Brave has done some training?

Yeah, that little aspect of my preparation was lacking this year..
Strong effort (fucking sandbagger ;)) but I don't remember anyone doing that in an A grade race at home. You'd occasionally get a strong TT'er do it in lower grades but they were generally unknown and too strong for their grade/cat. As soon as they win though they get bumped and then they're screwed because everyone knows their only move and simply varies the pace until they fall apart.
