But then I'd have no excuse...

Entered the Hounslow 100. Fuck.
-
• #9108
Is that the one in May? I'll decide about that one once I'm done with the London mara next week.
-
• #9109
Yeah, 24th

Nice! Eat eat eat, also don't gear down too much. We will reschedule RST day.
I was on the H10/17r on Saturday - Oxford City RC open, insane headwind for the entire ~6mile uphill outward leg. 21:52 for 2nd place, 14sec off the win but the slowest I think I've ever been on there! 112".

• #9111
Thinking 100". Going to experiment with 10 and 20mm risers as I think being too low at the front is costing me power, need to test.
-
• #9112
I think 100" would work well. Obviously it'll be a slog going up the drags <65rpm at points but will give you an excuse to get out of the saddle and rest your back! Also try dropping the saddle to reduce bar drop rather than adding risers.

an excuse to get out of the saddle
Oh, is that allowed? Here's me murdering myself at 45rpm seated. Or only in long distance events?
PS is there an RST 100 mile record? Nothing online... -
• #9114
No RST 100 mile record yet, although get in quick because Eric will smash a couple!
-
• #9115
@xavierdisley said on the podcast that going out of the saddle costs 100 watt at 50km/t.
-
• #9116
I don't quite go uphill at 31mph (yet)
-
• #9117
Going half as slow equals 4x less drag?
-
• #9118
Nah, drag is proportional to the cube of speed innit. I don't tend to get out of the saddle until i'm below 16-17mph in the aerobars

^^I edited something, can't remember what I wrote 1st time around.

I really want to do a 100.
Work out fueling and try it out on a ride too.
Carb drink and some gels. Elecrtolye too.
Dehydration will be the end of you.Enjoy it!!
-
• #9123
There's gonna be lots of gels. Laps of the Bentley 25 course so refueling should be easyish. My mate did 4:06~ last year so I've got a target.

Entered the Hounslow 100. Fuck.
Remember; don't sprint for the 99 mile line.
-
• #9125
Doubt I'll be sprinting for anything by 99 miles.
That's where I went but luckily I got an email from the organiser and headed over to Aldermaston Station carpark instead. Thanks anyway. And @mdcc_tester
