Good stuff. What's the course?
I don't know if it has an official designation - I suspect not - but tonight's course was this one. The faster one I set my current PB on a fortnight ago is similar but doesn't feature the 90 degree turn onto the A142 or the climb at the beginning.
Edit - tonight's course was the B10/1R. CTT thinks the course record is 21:40 held by Dan Staite, but it's not, 'cos he got busted for doping.

WAC. Can anyone point me towards any relevant laws that refer to cyclists' (or other road users') use of dual carriageways.
Also are there any regs within CTT that relate to warning signs for events?
Cyclists, along with every other pedestrian, horse-rider and carriage-driver can use any public highway that they're not specifically banned from. It's not a question of there being a law entitling cyclists to use dual carriageways - in this country it's legal to do anything, unless there's a law against it. And there's no law against cycling along dual carriageways.
There is, of course, a law which prohibits drivers from driving without due care and attention, which would (or should) include driving into cyclists, but that's very rarely observed IME.

Yes, buried in the guidance notes on risk assessments and mitigation of identified hazards. On the other hand, there are statutory regulations which limit the size of signs we can put up (although some clubs/promoters flout them with apparent impunity).

It might be, depends when he set it and what period of result-annulment was applied in conjunction with his ban from competition.

Searching for Dan Staite now comes with free Google warning:
Some results may have been removed under data protection law in Europe. -
• #7107
^^ True. I think the club took a rather hard line and simply excised his results from the record, but the CTT presumably took a rather more rigorous approach.
^ but not on www.google.com

Just looked a google policy, apparently they are putting that notice on pretty much all searches for people's names, including mine and yours.
-
• #7109
Ah, so they're basically just having a big stroppy flounce about the fact they're expected to comply with non-US laws in other countries in which they operate? Sounds about par for the course.

Some results may have been removed under data protection law in Europe.I knew Dan back in the day, turned up at the National 10 championships years ago and he was there going round on his motorbike, having not entered. Was a bit surprised he wasn't racing as it was close to where he lived - he went on about how many hours he was doing and that he'd ridden 100 miles at 25mph or something on his road bike the day before which sounded a bit unbelievable. There was dope testing at the National 10 ...

That the same guy who won Wally G by bridging over to a strong break, who was juiced up? Joker. What a low life.
Got a ride on V718 this saturday but forecast looks grim. What was is a good wind there?
-
• #7112
It's quite sheltered, so I think a crosswind is favourable. Perhaps a slight south easterly to blow you back up the drag. TT forum will know better.

• #7113
Ah cool!
Well done on PB just seen last page!
-
• #7114
TBH any wind condition will still be fast, I'm on the V718 this evening and it is sheltered, mostly the wind slows you down round the turn if there is any, you have to really work the turn hard otherwise you can lose a fair amount of speed.
And second that: well done on the PB!

Okay thanks, good to know. Good luck!
Rain days can be bloody quick. -
• #7116
Nicely done upsidedown, that's a decent improvement.

• #7117

Technically that might be the case but the record was set by a doper so it's basically not a record until someone clean beats it.

I saw what looked very much like an evening 10 being run on the A224 last night (turning left at the roundabout at the bottom of starhill road, towards Sevenoaks) - any idea which club is running it and what course it is?

Tuesday nights are Bigfoot CC club only 10s on the Q10/18 course.
Well done on recent PBs upsidedown and danstuff!

Well, surrey league 4-up TTT is looming and I've realised my old clip-ons don't fit my new bars.
My old ones were Oval 'underslung', s-bends which I liked. I don't really want to spend more than 100 quid replacing them.
Any recommendations?
I've looked at:
Zipp Vuka Aluminia (expensive and the underslung mounts seem rare)
Easton Aeroforce mod - seem heavy? -
• #7121
neg rise stem and over mounted extensions to get you the same drop as the undermounted ones?
I highly rate the Vuka Alumina's (using the overmounted ones with 50cm risers)

TT'ers, I have a question, I'm looking to build an '80s-'90s machine for fun, racing about the Chilterns and Henley where my folks live. Good to get out of London right?
Whilst I'm not concerned about the components being period correct can someone advise me on groups which would be suitable or at least a direction I can investigate?
The frame will have downtube shifters, single ring most probably also. I was looking at Dura Ace 7700. Thoughts?

• #7123
80s-90s would be 7400, not 7700

Thanks Sam. Shame it's club only - not too far for me.
